Hi
My g,grandmother Annie/Ann Conway died in 1940 her address was given as 20
Lilac place formerly known as church place although she died at a hospital in
Balornock road-the Royal infirmary?
Has anyone any information about the area -names of schools, churches, cemeteries
etc. She was probably Catholic. Does anyone recognise the name I believe she was
quite a character - a longshot I know.
Thanks Annie 3

The Royal Infirmary is not on Balornock Road which is in Springburn. Possibly Forresthall Hospital, now demolished, but I dont think it was a hospital in the 40's

Hi,
3 Church Places listed in 1927
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~glasgow/1927streetlist33.jpg
The one off Garscube Rd is the one you are looking for
http://www.glasgowguide.co.uk/info-streetschanged1.html
The street directory will let you see where it was.
The hospital in Balornock Rd is Stobhill Hospital, which is still there.

hi Dorothy,
i don't think they are the same Annie Conway as my Annie Conway's husband was called Robert and he died in about 1913.
Just wondered if you knew the names of any of the children of your Annie conway.
thanks anyway

Annie Conways children were Robert, Samuel, Jeanie, Annie,David, James, Frances, Alexander.
If this is any help to you they all had big families and my father was Frank, my maiden name is Conway.

Just updating this in case anyone else is looking for the location.
Church Place/Lilac Place was off Garscube Road at the Round Toll. It was between St Georges Road and Cedar Street. There is now a block of flats called Cedar Court there.

An Ann Conway was buried in St Peter's Dalbeth cemetery on 9 Sept 1940
There is also a record of a John Conway in the same cemetery buried on 24 April 1939
