I've had no luck in finding William/Wilhelm SCHEMENSKY.
Apparently born in Hannover (Germany), but I don't know when, he married Julia Burns in 1893 (RD West Ham).
I believe she was born in Bethnal Green in 1871. They had the following children all registered under the surname Schemensky:
Hermione Mary, b. 1896 Bethal Green
William R., b. 1899 Richmond, Surrey
Margaret Julia, b. 1901 St. George in the East
There were later children.
There is a suggestion that the family changed the name to Williams.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Justin

William Schemensky was apparently still selling beer in the East End in 1910:

That's fantastic! Why didn't I think of omitting the 'n'?
Would you mind tracking Julia, pls?

not as easy as I'd hoped, given their non-specific PoBs .... but based on the assumption that the Mary Burns in 1901 is Julia's sister, this family is a candidate ... altho the age gap of Julia to Mary isnt quite right ...
Otherwise, get the Marriage Cert (Julia and William, West Ham) and reveal her fathers name ...
1881 - RG11/178; Folio: 11; Page: 15 - St Pancras
6 or 7 Mary Place
All declare they are born in St Pancras
Patrick Burns 36 Head
Julia Burns 36 Wife
Ellen Burns 11 dau
Julia Burns 6 dau
William Burns 4 son
Mary Ann Burns 2 dau
I had a quick look in 1891 - will do so again to see if Mary is still with the same parents
-
Ah, there is a Julia born Bethnal Green, with a younger sister Mary, but an 8 year age gap ... always assuming the the 1901 Mary isnt just a coincidence ...
1881 - RG11/448; Folio: 13; Page: 20 - St Botolph Without Aldgate
6, Cartwright Square
assume you have access - parents are Daniel ( a Fish Porter) & Margaret.
Recommend you get the Marriage Cert ....
-
Thank's for looking.
The marriage cert has been ordered by the person I'm trying to help.
Just found the same match on familysearch:
RG11 0448/13
66 Cartwright Sq.
Daniel Burns, 38, Aldgate, fish porter
Margeret ", 36, Poplar
Margaret, dau., 11, Bethnal Green
Julia ", dau., 9, Bethnal Green
Mary Ann ", dau., 1, Aldgate
Daniel ", son, 7m, Aldgate
Cheers,

Hi Justin
I am researching the Schemenskys for a friend whose maiden surname was Williams. One of William and Julia Schmensky's sons was her grandfather and changed his name to Williams.
Would love to swap info.

Hello Susan,
I was helping another friend (Jan Rees) of your friend (Pam?), who had suspected that the family were Jewish.
I was still wating to hear how Pam knew that Berthold's father, Wilhelm, came from Hannover.
Have you found the Schemensky or Aslanoglou families in the 1911 census?
Justin

Hi Justin
I think Pam might be my friend's sister. Maybe they are unaware they are both researching their family!
Yes, I have the 1911 census.
Email me at susan@guernseyancestry.com and I will send to you.

Hi guys,
Not sure if you are still looking for info on the Schemensky family? Wilhelm Schemensky was my great-grandfather and his daughter Maud was my grandmother. I don't have much info but would be happy to share what I have.
-
Hi, is someone still looking for Wilhelm Schemensky family information? My father is his grandson which makes me his great granddaughter. Would be interesting and exciting to find relatives I had no idea existed!
-
Hello Diane, I'm a great granddaughter too - via William and Julia's daughter Maud. I've been able to trace William's grandparents in Germany, as well as Julia's grandparents in London.
