Hi fellow Rootschat folk, Could someone please help me. On a Cranch list amongst my family were two unknown Cranch folk one Violet Beatrice I found was married into family, but haven't been able to solve Zelda F. She married Clifford Ralph Cavanagh, but that's all I know. Have heard there was a Cambridge connection. I would like to know who her parents were and when and where she was born. Your help would be much appreciated. BELLBIRD

Morning fellow Roots Chat Folk. Thanks very much for the info. Reason I'm chasing down Zelda with interest is that one gentleman found when he applied for a visa that as a baby he was adopted out and further research showed he was fathered by an uncle. The uncle wanted to financially support the mother and child but Mum whisked her away to Auckland and had the boy adopted with no consultation. Hence I am keen to find out who her parents were.
The above uncle lived in Cambridge and I've heard that is where she came from, whether birth or lived there, I don't know. I haven't had any proof that she was there, it was just mentioned in passing I think. BELLBIRD

Hopefully once you have the death notices it should tell you how old she was when she died.
Also the marrriage or death printout will tell you who her parents were.

There are some Cranch's buried Paeroa

one with middle name of Florence that would fit time period for Zelda's parent. Adress Te Aroha Road, so if farmers, could well have moved from Ngatea area.

I'm getting back to some older requests which I haven't solved yet. I'm trying to find the names of her parents as she was it seems born or lived in Cambridge at the same time as my branch of the Cranch family. This would would ascertain as to whether she is a family member or from another branch which I have heard of.Is anyone able to solve this puzzle for me? BELLBIRD

Fellow RootsChatters have already provided much information for you on Zelda Floris CRANCH, and from the previous thread it can be seen that you have followed up on some of the leads which have been given.
Yes, it's worthwhile trying the Cambridge Library as Althea suggests, but if there is no birth notice available, then (as suggested before), the only way really, to solve this puzzle, is to purchase the birth certificate for Zelda. :)

Hi Zelda Floris Cranch is the daughter of William Samuel John Cranch and Ada Florence Reynolds. She was born in 1914 in Cambridge NZ. Her siblings are as follows:
Violet Oriel Cranch b: 1913/12404
Cecil Alvin William Cranch b: 1916/6845 Te Aroha NZ
d: 7 April 1921/1301at Paeroa, Waikato, NZ
& Laurence Clive Cranch
b: 1924 Thames NZ

I haven't been able to confirm his birth.
