Title: West Heal? where is it?
Post by: Bee on Thursday 03 February 05 21:51 GMT (UK)
I'ved traced some ancestors living in Hull on the 1851 census, it gives their birth place as West Heal Lincs.  I can't find this place on the map, could it refer to Healing near Grimsby? or has anybody got any better ideas.

Hi,

could it be a transcription error?

How about West Keal Lincolnshire?

West Keal is a parish southwest of Spilsby and southeast of Horncastle. East Keal parish lies to the east and Stickford to the south.

Thanks Sue,

West Keal makes sense as Spilsby is given as place of birth on a later census.

thanks again
