Hello folks
Venturing onto this board to say that if anyone ever recognises the following family group, it would be interesting to hear from you:
Andrew Lilley m Margaret Hendry in South Shields 10/5/1916
Children were or included:
female (removed name as requested) Lilley b 1919
male (removed name as requested) Lilley b 1923
I believe their address after marriage was 16 John Street, Hebburn-on-Tyne.
Andrew was from Ireland and links with some families I have been researching there.

Hi
I see a birth appears on freeBMD. I am a little concerned that the children may still be living so we should not be publishing any details about them. Can you amend your post if you know they are alive? If you know they are not that makes life easier!

My interest in the family stems from Andrew linking to a family I have researched in Ireland from pre1900. Don't know anything of the family from his time in England, other than what I have freely discovered online. I found both potential childrens births on FreeBMD, as anyone can. Happy to remove the children's names, though, but if anyone wants to look for them, they too can check Free BMD.
Assume you will now also remove the name from your post above to keep matters in order.

Yes, I have done so! Would looking at the electoral roll help in your search? Street Directories?

Belated reply. Happy to just leave this post open in case anyone ever recognises the family. At moment, no look ups in electoral rolls/street directories required, thanks.

I know they are Lilley's in the areas you mention that come from Tweedmouth and the men are Iron moulders.

Popped in to look at this thread again. Have recently heard tell of a snooker player from Hebburn with the Lilley surname. Realise he may in no way link to the family above, but If anyone who happens onto this thread knows the chap in question (google for name), perhaps you could mention my quest to him.

I used to go out with a girl whose cousin was Lilley, the snooker player (never met him, though I still live in Hebburn).
-
Erm, thanks for sharing that.
Would still be happy to hear from anyone who might link to the family grouping I have described.

With the free access week on Ancestry, I was messing around with various family surnames, and, lo and behold, up popped this very family group on a Form 30, Canadian Ocean Arrivals!
Seems Andrew, Margaret and the children, all recorded as Lillie, headed off in 1924 to Hamilton, Ontario, with intention of settling in Canada. Address going to was that of their 'cousin', a Mr Broadbent of 143 Lottridge Street (googling the address and surname brought reference of an Ernest Broadbent and Mary Wright of said address, as witnesses to a wedding, also in 1924 http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~maryc/went1924.htm).
No sign of what became of Andrew and family after 1924 though - so methinks I need to enlist help of the Canadian board.

Found them! ;D
(ps have had to shatter someone's research in the process, though, as although they were following this family group, they had unfortunately followed totally the wrong lineage for Andrew - hopefully they take it well when they receive my email).

As the children mentioned at the start of this thread have both now passed away, Winnifred in 2000 at Windsor, Ontario and Robert only last month, at Fort Gratiot, Michigan, I thought I would update with a link to a fitting obituary, with picture, for Robert Lilley, son of Andrew, who lived to the grand age of 93:

I have just read your post. am looking into our family tree and we have Lilleys who originally came from Derbyshire (Sarah Lilley) and moved to Dudley.Sarah's brother John Thomas moved to Canada . He was married to a Caroline Mara Worthington .
Are we related? I am not sure where the connection to Canada comes from .

The Lilley grouping of this thread were descended from a line who were un Ireland from at least the early 1800s, with no known links to Derbyshire across any of the generations.

Oh that is a shame. always find t hard to believe t when they traveled so far in those days.
s there any way of checking USA \Canadian records without paying again on a Website?
