I think it looks most like Doyle but have you got any other means of checking - their marriage, children, etc. What dates and locations do you have.

Nothing coming up for a marriage to a Mary apart from one in 1867 to a Mary Watson in Glasgow :-\
He married Margaret McGeddie in 1878 in Bathgate, so it will be best to look for one of the older children. However, they appear to all have McGeddie as a middle name.

Unfortunately, James McGeddie Hawkins (aged 8 ) on the 1881 was the son of margaret McGeddie and is registered as McGeddie. (see IGI)
So that doesn't help with Mary Doyle :(

Hello I have been researching my family tree for some time. I came to a stop at Harkins and Doyle and occasionally went back to it. On advance I typed it into the search bar and up came your enquiry. I think it was some time ago, but wondered if we can exchange any information?

Thanks for replying. I suspect they probably did get married in Ireland. He was described as "widower" at 29years old when he remarried But I can't find him before then

Thanks for that. I am not bad with the general family It's the 1st marriage of Andrew Harkins that's quite interesting I think it must have been in Ireland. He obviously comes over with the family in West Lothian, seems to disappear and returns. He turns up at 29 years of age as widowed and remarrying there. You may have just come across the info on your research but Andrew is my great grandfather. Can I ask are you researching them too?
