Title: 1841 census look up - TEAGUE and PHILIPS
Post by: The snooper on Monday 17 November 08 09:11 GMT (UK)
Hi,

I do not have access to the 1841 census at present and I would be very grateful for some look ups please.

I am looking for the following three families in the Rowlstone/Longtown/Clodock area probably:

1.   Stephen PHILIPS/PHILLIPS- head of household

2.   Thomas TEAGUE - head of household

3.   Walter Philips and Mary Teague children of the above married in Rowlstone in 1840 so I would like to find them as well in 1841. Their first child Thomas was born in June 1840 so should be on the census too.

Thanks in anticipation

Pam,

Thanks everso - that is great and must be the right lot.

I need to try to find the baptismal records for Walter and Mary to see if the Sarah Philips fits - I feel a visit to the Hereford records office coming on.......

Cheers and thanks again

Greetings! I know this thread is ancient but I didn’t see a way to PM here. I think that the Walter Philips in this post might be my 4x great-grandfather. I’m wondering if you found anything regarding the Sarah listed on the census or if you know who Walter’s father or paternal grandfather was. There is family lore that there was a name-change sometime around 1850 when they crossed the pond, but I don’t know if it was just spelling (added an l) or a complete change. Hmmmm. Cheers and thanks!
