Further to my previous request about tea rooms in Brecon during WWII, I had an idea!! Is there anyone in Brecon who knows someone who would have lived in Brecon during the Second World War? The tea rooms my family came to belonged to a relative of the James' family. Albeit, this could have been either a James, Preece (the maiden name) or an entirely different name if it belonged to a sister who married! My great uncle remembers the tea rooms being in a terrace of about 8 houses. They came from London and stayed in rooms above the family owned tea rooms.
A long shot, but just thought someone might know of an elderly person who lived there during this time. Many thanks for any help, once again. :)

Will ask my sister lives near brecon and a girl i work with whose parents and grandaparents have farmed near there for ages for you. see if they know. Will get back to you if i find out

Hi. I realise that you asked about this a long time ago but here goes.... I know my grandparents ran The Buffet in St Marys Street in Brecon at some point. When I was a child it was a bakery but definitely had living space above as my friend lived there. My grandmother was Alsace Gertrude Lorraine JAMES and she married William Ronald Jones. I dont know if this is the same family of James's or not, but please contact me if you require any more information. :)

Welcome to Rootschat, Celticlass. I don't know if the original poster will respond as he/she doesn't appear to have been active on RC for about 4 years. Nevertheless, the information you give is fascinating and I am sure useful to people who know the area, or have family links here. (I live near Brecon so I'm interested to read about the history of the area.) It certainly looks like you have identified the tea-rooms that Saworth was seeking!
