I would be grateful if someone could provide me with details of the family of Alfred George Maunders who was born in Leighton Buzzard in 1884.
Alfred was my great grandfather and I understand that he was a chauffeur for Lord Brownlow.
Did Lord Brownlow have an estate in Leighton Buzzard?
-
interesting that he's the only lad in the country with that name in FreeBMD, for the 1881 to 1889 period.
In 1901 theres an Alfred, PoB Bucks, Ringshall, near the Gaddesdons, a bit south of Leighton Buzzard .....
RG13/1328; Folio: 13; Page: 15 - Little Gaddesden, Herts
he also is unique in name and age - want more ?

Hi
The Estate was not in Leighton Buzzard but took over a large area boardering Herts/ Beds & Bucks.
There is a bit about the family and estate here but a little later than maybe your Alfred.
www.edlesborough.gov.uk/community/brownlow/brownlow_estate.htm
hope that works!
Lord Brownlow had his own private waiting room at Berkhampstead station
and there is a Brownlow B&B in Ivinghoe. The Brownlow Estate house was at Ashridge House and is a great area to spend time walking in.
Find out more for yourself there is loads out there..... just google

To Add to the above census.... Sarah does not look to be Alfred's mother as ...
1881 RG11/1644 F 24 P 5
Ringshall Top Row
Joseph Maunders hd m male 40 Dagnall ag lab herdsman
Emma wi m f/male 40 Harpenden herdsman wife
Walter J son u male 5 Dagnall
Joseph B son u male 4 Ivinghoe
William J son u male 1 Ivinghoe
There is a death for Emma Maunders 1887 Q1 Leighton Buzzard age 45
and a marriage for Joseph Maunders to Sarah 1888 Q2 Leighton Buzzard to Sarah Willmore.
Emma was Emma Ward and she married Joseph in 1874.

Hello, this is my first post here, I just found your thread whilst searching for Maunders info!
My nan, Iris Moriarty, was born Maunders and as far as I know she has lived her whole life in Edlesborough and the villages.
I found some great photos on Eaton Brays council website, showing Maunders blokes on cricket teams in the 1940's and 1950's. Im sure they are all known to my nan and Im waiting to hear who they are in relation to her, they are named as Dennis, Basil and Alec who in 1952 all look to be in their 50s or 60's and Derek, who looks about 10 years old.
Heres the link, i think there were three relevant photos in the set, http://www.eatonbray.co.uk/photoalbum/photo33.html

Hello, I'm trying to find info on my paternal grandmother Maud frances Maunders she lived in Hemel or nearby & married Horace Saunders in early 1900's. I have the Saunders family tree but also have a Maunders relation who was in the rifle brigade. Any info would be appreciated.
-
Hi Kaylay.....
First thing you need are some dates to start from so......
Louisa M F Maunders married Horace Saunders in Watford registration district in 1923.
Louisa was born in 1894 in Lambeth her mother's maiden name was Jones.
Father Charles mother Mary Ann.
Cannot see a connection to the Bedfordshire ones yet.

Thank you for info. That's a good start. I need to join an ancestry site I guess & pay to view certificates. I'm new to this. I have my grandfather Horace's family tree back to 1610 ( not done by me). I think maybe it's more problematic to trace the females.
