Title: Anyone who has access to ScotlandsPeople?
Post by: Eames on Saturday 03 January 09 13:43 GMT (UK)
Hi,

I hope I'm allowed to ask this question..

Looking for a Birth Record of Robert Mill Cook born (from UK death record) 3 March 1931 and I had a look at the site mentioned above and it came back with one result (I don't have any credit). Could someone please get the info for me ? I think Robert's father was Archibald Cook. (would the 1 credit to view details show parents' names without having to download the image?.. If so, then that's all I need)

Thanks,

T

I've posted this request on other site and haven't had a reply.. Will update this once found or got a reply elsewhere.

Hi T,

The information on the SP index is as follows:

Robert Mill Cook, male, b. 1931 in Kelty, Fifeshire

The certificate would have to be ordered at a cost of £10. The full certificate would give you parents' names and their date and place of marriage.

Been doing a bit of detective work ... ;D

I think Robert was the son of Archibald Cook (b. abt. 1906) and Agnes Montgomery Thomson (b. abt. 1912), who married in Kelty in 1929. Archibald's father was Robert Mill Cook* and mother Margaret Arnott/Armit. They married 1904 in Auchtermuchty.

*Robert Mill Cook (1884 - 1970) was the son of Archibald Cook and Annie Mill.

Hope this helps. :)

Hi again Hume,

That sounded good! I'm waiting for my aunt to ring me with the name of Robert Mill Cook's mother,  I hope it turns out to be Agnes to tally with your findings. Will update once I get the call.

Thanks again :)

Hmm looked back to the tree, I do have Robert being father to Archibald, so your findings could be right! (My aunt only gave me names of fathers, not the mothers). I did think that Mill was a maiden name to any of the mothers.

Blimey, Finally took me ages to figure out how to post on this site.
Anyway I nearly had kittens when I found this thread when looking for something else in google.
I am the great granddaughter of Robert Mill Cook and Archibald Cook was his father who was married to Annie cook, m.s Mill.

Archibald Cook used to be a police Constable in Dunfermline City Police, he was a constable in 1882 6feb 1882 at age 27 years old.
I guess he left the force due to the bad wages and he went into the mines.
Mill and Armit comes from the female side of the family.
Archibald and Annie got wed in 1880 7th November Beath.

I am going to Auchtermuchty Fife Saturday to find his grave or both their graves.

You can email me anytime. :)

Agnes Montgomery Thomson is my grandmother.
Agnes died in childbirth and my mum was adopted out to her uncle Andrew Armit Cook and he was married to Catherine Cook,m .s Smith.

Archibald Cook was my mother Nans real father from Kelty.
The first post goes way back in the generations of our Grandfathers.
Archibald Cook married again after Agnes died, and he had step daughters and a son Owen.
I also know my mum's brother were Billy-(Dead), Archie-  , Robert, Alec.

This one worked :D Crikey forgot about the post. I've been working (got the job back in August). I was doing this on behalf of my aunt's now ex partner, but I should be able to contact aunt and pass the message on to the chap. The names rang bells, I remember doing it and their names despite surname being COOK.

I'll get back to you on this

Hi there,

Been a few years now and no word back
My mum's  Brothers all from same mother and father and  I believe the Brothers were all adopted but not via other family members.
I am trying to trace any living Brothers, Alec, Archie, Robert and I do know that Billy is no longer alive.

This is very important to me and as the years come in quickly my Uncles also get older as do I.
Plus you never know when its your time lol

Last night thanks to facebook I found a good many members of the Cook family from Fife areas.
Aunts and Cousins etc, felt like Christmas had come early. :)

There is one of my mums Brother's Archie Cook I have still to find, and he changed his name so that will be difficult to trace him.
If anyone knows his whereabouts and he is still alive it would be great to contact him :)
