Hi all
I'm hoping someone can help me out. I've luckily managed to find all the censuses bar 1861 for my Husbands Gr-Gr-Grandmother and I'm hoping someone can help me find the elusive one.
She was Matilda Thomson born December 1843 in Caithness (sometimes listed as Wick, sometimes Bower). Her parents were George Thomson and Eliza McDonald. She had at least 1 sister Georgina born 1850.
She married William Hamilton in 1867, but their first child was actually born circa 1862.
I've searched for her under both surnames, with and without her parents and with and without William, but I cannot find her anywhere. I also cannot find her parents or her sister so I don't know if I'm missing something.
In 1851 her father is listed as a Chelsea Pensioner and they are living at Bilbster, Wick.
Any help would be very greatfully received. Thanks
Julz

Hi Julz
This looks like the family in 1861 with a couple more children - everyone showing as born in Wick apart from mother Elizabeth:
George Thomson 55, Chelsa Pensioner And Farmer
Elizabeth Thomson 33, b. Thurso
Malilda Thomson 17
Jane Thomson 16
Barbara Thomson 14
Georgeina Thomson 11
Address: North Bilbster, Wick

Thanks Monica. That's definitely them as in 1851 Jane & Barbara are with them with the surname of Ogg showing as step-daughters (which is confusing as they are younger than Matilda, but never mind lol)
