I would be extremely grateful if someone could tell me where pupil records for Matlock Presentation Convent Boarding School would be held and an address if possible to write to please.
I have just discovered a couple of my Aunts from Ireland boarded at the school and one of them joined the order and came out here to Australia where she remained for the remainder of her life.
Many thanks

Hi,
As the school is now closed, think you should ask the
Derbyshire Record Office if the records were deposited with them?
They can be contacted by e-mail:-
record.office@derbyshire.gov.uk
Feel sure there will be 100year closure on some records.
You could also ask the Local Studies Library at Matlock if they have any info, but they will not
have the actual records.
localstudies@derbyshire.gov.uk
Some general info on the school on:-

Spendlove,
Thanks a million for the links. I'll email Derbyshire Record Office although the 100 yr record closure may apply to my Aunts going by dates I have, and you never know what the library may have in their holding- I might just be lucky.

Hi there - just saw your notice on this site. I am a past pupil of Pres Convent, Matlock - I was there in the 1970's. I have just written a book on the convent which incorporates all the memories and photos (go to www.presentationsisters website for details). I am not sure if you found the records that you were looking for but there are a lot in the convent's Heritage Room .. if you contact them via the sisters website I am they will be more than happy to help. They are also very keen for old past pupils to contact them so that they can record the details etc Best of luck Victoria

Victoria, many thanks for your reply and link which I've had a look at.
Re the records I was searching for-no I haven't located them yet as I had received another piece of information in which mentioned Howrah House as the girls school. I think this was in London. I've been trying to confirm this without much luck so far.
I am going to write to the Sisters and enquire re my Aunts. It just may be possible they find their records amongst their collection which would be wonderful as I would also then be able to provide them with information for their archives.
Thank you very much again Victoria,
Regards,
Siobhan
