yes that would be good although i hav'nt got far with any of it the Harris side i can not find anything, and i have looked for Rose on other census and have got nothing so if you have any info it would be much appreciated, and we can work together..

dont know if its the same Upton but my grannies brother Levi (midgie) Gumble married Lucy Upton-she also had a brother named Belcher and a sister Genty who married seaman Anderson from Belvedere Kent-i think there are more of them and i could find out more if it would help?

yes i have heard them names.rose Upton was my great granny, i f you could find out somemore about her i would be most grateful, i think the Harris side was gorji but cant seem to find out about them....thanks

only that she was like an evangelist my uncle said, but they my uncle never knew much about her or Rose for that matter thats why its making it hard for me,with nothing to go on

Rose Upton b 1888 had 2 sisters Olive b 1891 and Alice b 1886
Mother Janey Lee b 1865 in White Roothing Essex
Father Joseph Upton b 1865 in Navestock died 1919 in Poplar
I have no info as yet on Jane Lees ancestry but here is what I have on the Upton side....
Josephs father was also Joseph b 1865 in Thring stone Leicester d Sept 1880 i.n Leicester
Joseph snrs father was Walter Upton b 1799 in South Thurmaston Leicester d 1883 in Barrow upon Soar Liecester.
His mother was Mary b 1803 in Northampton died 1869 in Barrow Upon Soar
Walters father was Joseph ( not much imagination on the names) 1767 in Barkby Leicester not sure yet when he died.
Walters mother was Mary Vincent b 1772 in Syston Leicester.
Hope this all helps it is as far as I have got

hi and goodmorning not sure if it is the same man my fathers name was john and his dad I think was jack who married my nana Rose Upton when I was young they lived in Manor park east london, BonnieDowns rings a bell they defiently lived in caravans but then moved to houses..my aunt ollie girl lived just up the street so did my uncle ernie the road is Alverston Road my dad lived with his mum rose and his younger brother Bill my grandad jack died at alverston road when I was very young I hope there is a link ..please get in touch and let me know one way or the other ...Have a Very Merry Christmas......

my grandfather george harris was born in sudbury suffolk in 1881 his parents were william and maryann nee miller I know he had a brother name jack in the 1911 census my grand parents lived in bohian chase in a caravan they had 7 kids linda louise george william (my farther) lily violet leonard in 1917 jack harris was fined 14 shillings for swearings at eastwood my grandmother was a buckley her parents were carnation andalice nee smith hope it help might be related I would wish you a merry exmas but its humbug my name is tony harris

although my father went by the name of Harris on his birth certificate is Miller so who knows we might be related..He joined the army as Harris ..merry Christmas to you my name is Brenda Harris have you any brother,s and sisters and how old are you if you don,t mind me asking Tony....

jst checked dads birth certificaate his dad is jack miller mum rose miller formerly buckley he was born in edmonton they for some reason started to use the name harris

one thing about gypies they love being a bit short on the truth my farther could tell some porkys it seems a bit strange your dad was a miller and my great grandmother was a miller on my fathers birth certificate my grandmother had put buckley also known as smith

Genty married a Buckley, Dukesy (My Grandads ) brother. I think there was another sister aswell as Carrie and Harriet thats the 1 who married the Draper, Harriett was in the Army and married someone in the Army dont think they had any kids, I have spoke to Gentys daughter they dont know much about the family either very sketchy, I'm sure if we could find out when the name was changed from Miller to Harris it would be a great help something to go on, because at the moment birth certificates marriage ect had to fathom out, plus some say Jacks dad was called George not William unless its William George Miller? I take it George was his oldest son and Jack younger, oldest son being named after his dad very common amongst travellers still is.............

gets confusing lizzie married a buckley defiently and if its the same genty her daughter would have known my dad think her name is sheila otherwise it is carey,s daughter she came to my dads funeral ..hope it is same family like I said very confusing

well hope every one has had a good christmas...well have fathomed out a little...lizzie married a buckley my uncle dukes.my aunt harriet married frankie simpson who she meet in the army she had my two cousins lorraine and carol who know live in the states would love to know if any one knows what happened to my aunt lizzies and uncle dukes family children..young lizzie, doris,perry.tommy boy boy,and billy...the two eldest lads went to oz with there wives..we are going back at least 40 + years ...so am not holding out much hope but you never know .once again Happy Newyear to every one

my dad was registered MILLER IN 1923 but he joined the army as Harris when he was 21 and also married my mother in 1948 as Harris..when it came to collecting his pension we had to go to london to get his birth certificate and even my mother was surprised he was miller she only found out when we could not find him registerd under Harris..he just said that,s what travellers did ..so she had to do a change of name..I have only ever known the name Harris .it is really weird,how do you join the British army as one name when it is really another ..still perhaps it did.nt matter in the early 40,s I mean he could not read or write but that never stopped him joining the airbourne in India..I think you are write about the irish connection...if you get any more info would love to here about it ...take care..

Your dads Mother and Father, Santine, Have you any birth marriage dates for them? I was looking on this websitehttp://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/a6d47b0075469..and there is a lot of Millars, as I think the surname was spelt Millar not Miller, there is a few George and Margarets going back through the 1800s some was in the Army aswell, if you could let me know...................

all I have is what,s on dads birth certificate ..mothers name rose miller formerly upton and fathers name jack miller trade licensed hawker..the mark of mother is a X address caravan town road edmonton in the county of middlesex..not sure if this will help good luck..and keep in touch x

Thanks any way, strange thing is my granny Elizabeth, your dads sister born 1910 on her birth certificate it says mother Rose Harris nee Upton father Jack Harris on a census dated 1911 Romford Essex its got Jack Harris wife Rose son Ernest 2 or 3 not sure without looking at it then my granny Elizabeth 1yr old, that was in 1911 they used the name Harris my granny was registered in Harris not Miller, when was your dad born and where? your dad was a younger sibling, its strange that my granny was registerd in Harris so was Ernest i should imagine but your dad was Miller registered, such a mixed up affair lol, No wonder its hard to trace anyone. It sounds like the Miller Harris surname has been swapped back and forth a lllllllllllot!! I need to know who Jacks mother and father was Molly and George are all i got to go on she was an umbrella mender apparently and was Irish, Molly could be pet name for Margaret or Mary and so on, If you find anyone who knows a bit more or anyone readind knows a bit more let me know........

was that Alveston rd Manor park? the address i have looked up the addres for census no joy there,. have you got a date when they moved there? ??? :-X :'(was it there own house do you know and was it left to any of the kids or sold on, do you know when Jack and Rose your dads parents died and where they are buried? is there any old documents photos ect? and are you in contact with any of the rest of the family I know Harriett didnt have kids what about the others? there must be some old paper work someone as got or maybe a relation knows more because its very difficult trying to trace stuff when your not sure its the right person.lol if you find something let me know

hi Sushie well other than what I have already told you not a lot more information find it strange no mention of Ernie he was the Eldest never heard my dad talk about george ...Ernie married Ivy and had two children Ivy and billy William marroied Freda and had two children Billy and John Harriet married Frank and had two children Lorraine and Carol as far as I know all my cousins are alive but sadly I have not been intouch for many many years...if you have any luck tracing them give them my regards ...take care .....satine
