Title: FreeBMD search oddity
Post by: GeoffE on Sunday 08 February 09 12:08 GMT (UK)
You probably know that you can use "*" or "+" for wildcard searches on FreeBMD - Note: "plus" can only be used for forename search.

I was just searching for a Herbert BURCH

Searching All types -   BURCH *Herb gave results 1856-1909

using  All types -   BURCH +Herb gave results 1844-1933

Not what I would have expected ???

Geoff - prefixing a forename with an asterisk will search for 'middle' names only   ;)
