Thr M Stobern?
-
Looks like Thos M Stoben or Stobern to me, as Sue suggests.
Gadget :)
Added - another look makes me think it might be Hobern
-
I thought it might just possibly be Thos. M. Stobson ??? ???
Kaz, would it would be worth seeing if you could find any of those names in the 1881 census ???
-
Hi Jennifer
I've just checked (quickly) and I can find Hobern but not the Stoben/Stobern

Could what we are taking for an 's' and a 't' possibly actually be an 'r', making the name 'Robson ??? ???
-
I can't see it as an R but I can see it as an H . It's difficult because it's his signature so nothing to compare. Joseph's on the 1881 but not with family :-\

I can't see it as an R but I can see it as an H .
Thos. M. Hobson?
-
Could very well be Jennifer - I'm now looking at it sideways as I've closed my download view ::) Luckily I'm on laptop so can just turn it sideways ;D ;D ;D
I'll vote for Hobson then :)

Thomas Marr Hobson married Jane Stephenson in Northallerton Reg Dist in Mar Q 1852 - does that ring any bells?
-
That sounds good ;D
I'd just been searching for a Hobson - Stephenson marriage in County Durham ::)
In the 1841 census Joseph had a 9 year old daughter named Jane.
-
Yes I think that it is right Josephs had a daughter Jane born 1832 so that will probably be her marriage. Thankyou all for your help
