Hi, do you have a Susan Ann Gillard b27-11-1885, South Tawton marrying a PIKE, thats all the details i have unfortunately, sorry.
Gillard is the name im searching and received a tree from Australia and they have above details on their tree, they dont know the first name of the PIKE gentleman, looking at the tree, it looks like they had 2 boys, Jim + Ern......they tended to use slang words on the tree so im guessing the boys names would be....James + Ernest.
Hope to hear from you soon, even if its to say NO you dont have these in your tree.
Thank you, CAZ ;D

Sorry,
No-one of that name appears in the Pike tree I'm doing.
I'll keep your details on file incase someone turns up at a lter date :)
Thanks anyway

My Grandmother was a Pike in Frome before she married my Grandad. She was Gladys Evelyn Pike born 15 Aug 1903 and died 21 Aug 1996. She had three brothers Arthur, Jack and Owen and one sister Vera. Her father was Walter Pike a carpenter. I haven't yet gone any further back as I'm just starting this branch of the family.
I don't know if this is of any interest or relevance.

I think Charles PIKE is the son of Tristram PIKE and Anne MEADEN baptised 1797 in Marston Biggot.
Tristram PIKE is the son of John PIKE and Hester ?
My ancestor is Tristram's sister, Ann.

Do you mean Frome, Somerset? If so then this website is very interesting.

My ancestor is Tristram Pike, have you got a definite id on his parentage please? Its John Pike and Hester but where did they come from? And where was John buried in 1811. I think he died in Marston Bigot but I can't find a burial.
Thanks

Linda,
For John PIKE and Hester
Children:
Sarah baptised 13/7/1760 Marston
Tristeram baptised 4/4/1762 Marston. Married Anne in Wookey 11/4/1787
James baptised 18/3/1763 Marston. Married Martha in Marston 27/9/1790
Ann baptised 10/7/1768 Marston. Married William in Marston 30/6/1791
Henry baptised 30/91770 Marston. Married Sarah in Marston 20/6/1789
Hester baptised 5/9/1773 Marston. Died 5/12/1779 in Marston
John baptised 25/12/1775 Marston. Married in Marston Sophia 15/7/1828
These are all from the parish registers. James info is from both parish register and another who is researching the CREESE line (Martha)
I haven't been able to pin point John nor Hester baptisms to give their parentage nor the marriage. Gaps seem to be in the registers.

Hi Lyn
Thanks very much.
I have a feeling John PIKE and Hester (Ester) originated in Horningsham. John was born and buried there but I can't see any children being baptised there.
I don't know if you are still local but Marston Bigot, Somerset and Horningsham, Wiltshire are within a few miles albeit in different counties.
I'd be interested to hear what you think.
Would it be possible to swap family trees?
Thanks for replying.

I can see that Ann (dau of John & Hester) was baptised at Marston Bigot in 1768.
There also seem to be a few children baptised in Bristol to a John & Hester Pike - is this a different family ?

Linda,
Sorry for the slow reply.
I unfortunately lost quite a bit in a flood so i'm slowly trying to re trace my steps with the family tree.
I'm not sure if i took a look at the Wiltshire side for this family. I know i looked all over for the marriage. As i said Marston Bigot has a few gaps in the registers. It is certainly worth a look.
Lyn.
msv- As far as i know the Marston Bigot PIKEs are not related to the Bristol ones. Though it wouldn't surprise me if they end up that way sooner or later :)

Hi all,
I have just come across this forum and looking to see what family I can find!
My grandfather was Walter John Pike (Jack) born in 1905 (I think) and died in December 1980. He had a son called Rodney who died aged 21 in 1952. He married my Nan, Iris Pike nee Payne in the 1940s and had my father, Robert John Pike in 1949 and my uncle, Richard Pike in 1956.
SapphireSue I reckon your grandmother was my gramp's sister.
I would need to speak to my Nan who is now 96 so she can tell me more.
Hope someone can shed some light on whether I belong to any families! :)

Hi,
All guess work without the certificates, but it looks like your Walter John PIKE may have come from Bristol. Just had a look, there is a Walter John PIKE on the 1939 register with his wife, Marina C. and son, Roderick J. By this Walter was born 18 June 1905 and was a Postman.
I took a look in the marriages and a Walter John PIKE did marry a Marina Cissie GARDNER in 1930 in Frome, Somerset (her parish, born 1910). Then in 1948 a Walter John PIKE married an Iris PAYNE in Frome, Somerset.
Without certificates there is no telling if its the same Walter. The only Walter PIKE on the Birth index and of the same month/year was in Bristol.
I hope this helps,
L.

Morning!
That is indeed my Gramp :). He was a postman and also the brother of SapphireSue's grandmother. He married Rodney's wife and then later married my Nan Iris. Can't wait to show my Dad this later. Thanks for your help. Are we related?
All the best,
Lauren

Unless Walter was originally from Frome and not Bristol, maybe. I cannot really say unless i go further backwards on your line. As it stands currently, no, my PIKE family married into my family tree a bit further back and seemed to stay in Frome at that point. I'm still looking for John and Hester PIKE to trace even further back on this branch of my family.
I'm glad i could help.
