Hi-there
Can any one find out any info the name. (Lacroix )
male from Quebec no first name sadly.
All I know is that he married Joyce an English Lady and had 2 sons Albert Eugene and John Lacroix. Somewhere around the middle 1940s. Then he died and the family returned to England, in Sussex.
I know this is'nt much but hey it's worth a chance.

You're right, there isn't much to go on! LOL Here's a link to GenWeb sites in the Province of Québec. You could look through them for any mention of the Lacroix surname and take your chances there.

I missed your query when you first posted it. I am afraid that searching Quebec sites for a LaCroix is a bit like searching in Wales for a man named Jones ;D.
There may be some hope, if we take a different approach to this question. You may have more useful information than you realise, for instance, where did the marriage take place?
What was he doing in England? Was he in the Canadian Army? The 1940s date suggests that Joyce was a "war bride". Is this the case? If it is, then they were probably married in England and you can find the marriage record. I presume that you know Joyce's surname? If he was a Canadian soldier, you may be able to find army records which would give more information about him.
If you could find his place of residence in Quebec, you might be able to find a burial record from the church, but that is about all you are likely to find. The Quebec government does not allow public access to records under 100 years old.
I presume you are not in touch with the sons or their children, but if you are, they could of course order their own birth certs and I think it might be possible for children to obtain father's birth cert. This would give the father's first name and his parents.
If you are interested in any of these ideas, put a reply on the board or PM me and I'll see what I can do to help. I have quite a list of Quebec resources, but mostly only good for earlier research.

Thanks for the advice.
Yes this is a hard one to get around. I didn't realize there were so many Croix's it is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
The lady in question was my ex mother in law. She was a lovely lady.
It's a shame I cant say the same for her son...!!Ha!
But there are times when things just have to be done. So I will contact him and ask if he can help with any info.
So I will let you know a.s.a.p.
