I think the daughter named Nicholas on the 1881 must be Agnes :-\
I did check on two sites - Nicholas on both :-\

thank you kindly to everyone for replies, much appreciated.

I am related to this Sarah McKeand. Do you know who her parents were. I have a Robert Mcadam and Nicholas Nitters on her death certificate. On one of the census there is an agnes with Robert mcadam and nichulus Nettles. Have not got her birth yet. If you have any questions please ask.

any information much appreciated. thank you

I am in south west scotland and have access to transcribed parish records at the library for free.I will look for your relatives if you give me a wee bit more information. I have discovered that the spellings are often wrong.

thank you

Hi,
If you can tell me roughly when and where born I can look tomorrow on the fiche and books at the library. BMD all available for SW Scotland for free up to a certain point. Grave inscriptions also available. They are transcribed so easier to read but not always acurate.
As for Sarah McAdam, she married David Mckeand and had a son robert, who had a son mathew, who had a son john, who had a william, who had me, gill. Can only find David's father, no mother mentioned, so I'm stuck in 1799. Hey ho, will have to start another line.

thank you

I am also related to this Sarah McKeand and have just started my research into the family. I am stuck at David and Sarah and have no information on his parents; would love to find out more.

Hi Kate
Welcome to Rootschat ;D
Hopefully Alepohori will receive notifications that we have posted here and come back soon.
It's a shame though that they have gone back and removed the details from their posts, you may have found out more information.
Editing posts in that way makes a nonsense of the topic :-\

Hi, David and Sarah were my mother's ggg grandparents. I have a birth date for David of 1796(?) but am stuck there; trying to find out his parent's names and where born.

Hi Kate
I have just happened upon your message regarding David McKeand and Sarah McAdam, who were my GGG grandparents.
David McKeand and Sarah McAdam had ten (documented) children, among whom was Agnes McKeand, my GG grandmother, who married William Griffin.
William Griffin and Agnes McKeand had six children, notably James Alison Griffin, David McKeand Griffin, William Griffin (my great grandfather), Robert Griffin, Agnes Griffin and Sarah Helen Griffin (known as Sissie).
The parents of David McKeand (born 1796) were David McKeand and Mary Porter.
If you send me a PM, I'll share all the information I have on our McKeands.
Cheers,
Rodeo

I really appreciate that and will post a PM.

hi kate, my research is mary mckeand, daughter of david mckeand and sarah mcadam and her husband john shennan. Have concentrated more on his line, for my daughter in law, I have mary's maternal grandparents as robert mcadam and nickulus nitters. i see rodeo is related through mary's sister agnes, what is your connection.
-
Hi Alepohori
Kate is, like your daughter-in-law, descended from Mary McKeand. I have much information on her McKeand/Shennan relations, which was compiled by one of our cousins, who is also a descendant of Mary McKeand.
If you send me a PM with your email address, I would be most happy to share that information with you.
Many thanks to Monica for so astutely moving this topic to the Kirkcudbright forum, where it will be more widely read. I only happened upon this McKeand thread (in the Beginners forum) fortuitously while doing a related search.
Cheers,
Rodeo

I meant to add, Alepohori, that Mary's maternal grandparents were indeed Robert McAdam, innkeeper, and Nicholas (Nickulus) Nitters.
Among David and Sarah McKeand's children was a daughter, Nicholas McKeand, who married John Welsh, joiner. John and Nicholas lived for a time in England before returning to Scotland, where they are recorded in the 1881 census (also posted here by Mum44) as living with Sarah McKeand in Minnigaff.
In the 1861 Scotland Census, Sarah McKeand, head, was living with David McKeand, son, age 15, and Agnes McKeand, daughter, age 19 (my GG grandmother) in her father's public house in Minnigaff.
Sarah (McAdam) McKeand died in 1883 and her husband, David McKeand, died in 1871.
Cheers,
Rodeo
