Apparently were involved in silk weaving or Spinning industry, either there or as others said in Donegal
Some Changed the Name to DEAKER

Transcription of names in the Huguenot Cemetry, Dublin here:

http://www.hidden-dublin.com/huguenot/huguenot2.html

No D'Acre or Deaker that I can see but I only gave a quick look. Some links to other Huguenot sites also.

The Laois (Queen's County) Huguenots appeared to have settled in Portarlington.

Dara.

Cathy

I am a bit confused as to what info you have on the family

I was going through Connorsgenealogy.com just now, and I see you have an interest in Dacre/Deaker for Mountrath in 1700s.(I assume you are the Cathy Carley from Aus there)

Do you think they came from Mountrath?

Hi Cathy,

I purchased the book ' Ireland's Huguenots and their Refuge, 1662-1745
An Unlikely Haven'
(Raymond Hylton)

and it has a chapter entitled "Fortress Ireland"-The Linchpin;Portarlington's
Saga, 1692-1720
but in that section there is no mention of D'acre either in Portarlington or Mountrath, or even Queens County itself.
Mountrath is not mentioned in any section of the book, and the reason I offer this information, is perhaps it might either narrow the years of your search, or broaden it!!!
If I come across any other mention of the name I will, of course, post it here,
Best wishes,
Jack

Title: CHIVELL and MORRISSEY in your names List
Post by: LouiseNN on Monday 21 April 14 02:21 BST (UK)
Hi Cathy, I am brand new on this website and not sure if you are the person who has both CHIVELL and MORRISSEY's in the bottom line of the first message. ;D  My husband is the CHIVELL-MORRISSEY descendent and I am doing his family genealogy for him.  The earliest I have found his CHIVELLs is in Cornwall, England in the 1861 Census...they are:  Margaret SNELL CHIVELL.  Her son, James SNELL CHIVELL.  He is the grandfather to Christopher's (my husband) Grandmother, Alma CHIVELL born in Grass Valley, Nevada County, CA to William CHIVELL and Fannie Elizabeth GODFREY - family "originally" from Nova Scotia. In Nova Scotia, Charles GODFREY (1826) married a Mary Ann MORRISSEY -- and her father was born in Ireland, as was her mother, Hellen (sic) Surname as yet unknown.   As CHIVELL is not a very common name, do you think that there might be a connection betwixt yours and his/mine?  I look forward to receiving your reply and apologies if I have put this message in the wrong "surname" blog.  Louise Navarrette Norgaar
