Hello
A sibling of a direct line relative of my wife - 21 years old Agnes Crosbie (born 17 March 1857), married 23 years James Melville on 26 Jul 1878 in Galashiels. He was a house painter (journeyman) and she a wool factory worker. Can someone kindly find them on the ’81, ’91,01 census. She had strong Galashiels connects. I’m trying to find her date of death. Have marriage and death dates for her siblings.
Agnes was the 4th child of 11 born to William Crosbie and Stewart Watson. I’ve also tried finding Agnes death on SP without success. Even tried a searching for a Melville- other name Crosbie death - no Christian name - female gender and only come up with one - a Margaret - who is not her.
Any suggestions other than emigration? I'm trying to find a window for her death or a direction in where she may have gone. Have thought of her first husband dying and her re-marrying? So may have to go down that route - of buying likely entries of an Agnes Melville marriage from abt 1880 to 1900, in the Borders region.
Thanks very much, Regards, Steve .

Looks as though you may have found them capricorn - very well done...... Agnes was born in Gordon, Berwick.
Thank you - very much :O)
Got to go - at work - shall look back this evening.
Can you give details on the ship they travelled on?
Regards, Steve :O)

They travelled on the State of Georgia, Port of Arrival New York, Arrival Date: 24 Sep 1890.
I can't see them in 1900 census, but they are there in 1920 census in Conneticut.
It looks like they may have travelled back and forth between Scotland and the US.
I'll try and find out what I can on them

You are a star capricorn. It's really appreciated. Shall get one of the children bc's to double check - but it must be them... Regards, Steve ...
Update: Isabella Stewart Melville was born on 21 Feb 1879 to James Melville, House Painter - (Journeyman) and Agnes Melville M.S Crosbie. The family were living in Wood Street Galashiels at the time. So, good to see you've got the right family.......
