Title: Birth Record - Margaret Alice DAVIES

Please could anyone advice me on how to look up a birth in Australia.  My adopted sisters grandmother was born in Australia in 1923. We dont know exactly where.
She may have also been married in Australia too.
Can anyone help.  I have come to a dead end already.

Where was her child ...who was to be your adopted sister'smother .... born please.

If she is still living, please do not put her name on the board.

The mother's  place of birth may help us locate Margaret Alice.

Do you know the name of the man Margaret Alice married?

Perhaps  you  may  need  to  work  backwards.

I she is deceased  when and where did  she die?

AS Sue said  if she is still living you  shouldn't put her details on  the board

Margaret Alice was married to Eric Sawyer in this country and died in this country.  I have sent for the marriage certificate.  I have the death certificate and this just states that she was born in Australia.

Her daughter, my sisters mother is still alive and so no names will be mentioned.

I dont know when margaret came to UK but it was between birth and her marriage in 1942.  Is it possible with this minimal information to find her on a passenger list?

Thank you for the additional information.

Australian birth indexes are available state by state and although there are different cut off years in the different states, none goes as late as 1923.

I do not have shipping departure information though possibly other chatters may help you.

But, as you have said, she may have marriedand so  the search will be tricky indeed.

Births are online to 1932 in the state of Western Australia

There is actually one for a Margaret DAVIES in 1923, but no Alice as a 2nd given name.

You mention that she married Eric SAWYER in the UK.  What was the date of their marriage?  It will narrow period to  search the incoming passenger records of those arriving in the UK.

Thank you for the information.
They were married in 1942.  This gives me nearly 20years to search for journey to UK!  I was hoping to find her parents names so that might narrow it down.  Davies is a common name though anyway so I don't suppose it will be easy.

Don't know a lot about marriage certs in UK but I am sure the one and only one I have shows the bride's father's name.  Have you the marriage cert?

The surname Davies is Welsh.

I have just recieved the marriage cert. for Margaret Alice Davies marriage to Eric Sawyer in UK in 1942.  Her father's name was George Fazakereley (looks like) Davies. 
Can someone check the passenger lists for his name to and/or out of Australia?  I would be very grateful.

It was noted on her death certificate that she was born in Australia.  No other details, which is a pain especially with a common name like Davies.  According to her marriage certificate her fathers name is George Fazakerely Davies (not a common name I would have thought!)
