Post by: bodger on Monday 20 April 09 14:43 BST (UK)
In todays Irish Times. 20/4/09, there is an article by John Grenham- "Irish Roots", in it he describes a genealogist, Dr. Albert E Casey, who collected and transcribed every single record for the region and ajoining parts of area bounded by Mallow,Killarney,Tralee, and Newcastle, he also collected all he could find about Cork & Kerry pre. 1825, and on Munster, berfore 1625, this information was published in 16 volumes 1952 to1971, the title being, O'Kief, Coshe Mang, Slieve Lougher and the Upper Blackwater , the contents can be found :-

his parish transcripts can be found on -amily-earch.org

Hi There

I would love to see the site you have suggested but it will not work for me
and says "Not Found".   I have an ancestor Patrick WALSH who was in
Doneraile in the 1820s and was born there before the church was built.
He was Catholic so must have been baptised in the area.  His father was
either John or Patrick if I am reading Griffiths Valuation correctly.

If you can provide an updated site ref. I would be most grateful.

Regards

Jill in Sydney

what a brilliant resource... and would I just love to get hold of it, though I'm sure it would take ages to read through.  One of my Irish lines should be in there, and the Boyle papers may just hold a clue to their early days in Ireland

Seems like the British Museum is my closest and looks like it would take quite a few trips to look through the relevant volumes.  Sadly I have just returned from Ireland and didn't see this thread before I went...

oh well, that might be an excuse to go again  ;D

thank you for posting   Bodger  ;D ;D

updated... these volumes are now available at the BL at St Pancras, they were moved there in 1973  :-[
