At this stage I have very little, Douglas died in 1977 and lived at Beaconsfield at the time. His son Ronald who passed away in 2006 was my father-in-law and I would like to know more about his family for my children

Looks like Douglas may have been born post 1919

You can search here and will find the location of Ethel and Alfred at the Deloraine Cemetery.
Others are there too.

On the same site there is a Douglas Grundy with the death date you have mentioned. {1977}
However his age at death, 69 gives him a birth date of 1908.
This is apparently before the marriage if correct.

Hi,
Interesting bits Cando.
Description: Headstone of Douglas GRUNDY . Died in 1977 aged 69yrs. Source: Beaconsfield General Cemetery 1St Anglican Section
This is the full description of the MI.
Could/Would you change a child's given name after marriage?
I understand you can call yourself anything you like. It is perfectly legal. Changing your birth registration is something else entirely.
There does not seem time for 2 births in the time frame ;D

thank you everyone for your replies. It seems that Douglas Grundy and Frederick Allan Norris are the same person from what I can see. The WW1 website has a Frederick Allan Douglas Grundy with the same birthdate and place with Beryl Grundy as next-of-kin. I wasn't sure if it was the right person
-
Hi Harley.
The record I have given you above is WW2 and holds all the information you have mentioned in your last reply.
http://www.ww2roll.gov.au
I guess you mean ww2 as DOUGLAS would be too young to join up for WW1
Sue.

Hi Harley,
I have Alfred Ernest GRUNDY married to Ethel Harriet NORRIS in my family tree. I have no information on them other than their marriage, but do have information on Alfred's family going back to Arthur Grundy who was buried in 1729 in Berkshire, England.
Alfred is the son of John GRUNDY and Sarah Jane MORGAN. This John is the son of John GRUNDY and Maria HALES. I am descended from another son of John and Maria's.
I would love to be able to get the details of Alfred and Ethel's family. I would be very pleased to share what Grundy information I have with you.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Harley,
I wonder whether the interesting connection given by Debbie [Walcha72] will lead you further on your way ;D
Cando has already given you a wonderful amount of information about the HOUSE family, but you may like to look at this extensive tree published by another person interessted in HOUSE.
http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/margettsb/House.htm
You may also like to revisit the site I gave you earlier and see burial locations for HOUSE. Perhaps even a portrait or 2.

There are 4 Wills for house in the Tasmanian Archives

Hi Debbie,
Sorry I missed your message. If there is any information you want regarding Alfred and Ethel Grundy and their family I am only too happy to help. Douglas was my husbands grandfather and up to now we didn't know much about him as he died when my husband was a young boy.
