Mike,
One of my O'Brien ancestors was married to a Christie(Christy)and her mother was a McGuire. The whole lot of them seemed to be from County Leitrim - in fact, there were so many of them that I doubt if anybody was left in Leitrim in the 1850s.....
They all came over and set about marrying each other in the 1850s and 60s - I hadn't thought to look for McGuires in West Lothian.

I am searching Beattie. I have a marriage certificate of John Beattie marrying Janet McGuire in 1893. Janet's father was Patrick McGuire and mother Mary (Gebbie, I think). One of the witnesses was James McGuire (I think it was Janet's brother). This all happened in the County of Lanark. Maybe they are related.
I hope this is of assistance.

I'm looking for McGuires who were living in Fauldshouse around 1921-33. James McGuire married Margaret Hamilton in Paisley in 1908. Margaret was my grandfather's sister.
Thanks.

How do we "prove" that our McGuires are related? The first difficulty is that "my" McGuires were so much earlier and I can only prove that one of them - Ann McGuire - ever lived in Scotland.
Ann was the daughter of Luke McGuire and Katie McHurrey. She died in Linlithgow in 1861 aged 52.
Somebody did some research in Griffiths Valuation for me and there were 71 Maguire or McGuire families in Leitrim in 1856.
All the Irish seemed to live in the High Street in the 1840s, 50s and 60s.
Has anybody else traced their McGuires back to this period?
