I'm undertaking a One Name Study of my grandmothers maiden name of FELL and would appreciate contact with any Fells about their origins.

I have this fellow as my 5th great-grandfather; the attached info. is all I have on him.
Richard Fell 1726–1770 (Richard Fell innholder of Grassington buried at Linton in craven 4.7.1770)
BIRTH 1726 • Skipton, Yorkshire, England
DEATH 25 SEP 1770 • Kendal, Westmoreland, England.
Richard Fell innholder of Grassington buried at Linton in craven 4.7.1770 and there is a possible will at York.
And his marriage to Mary Demaine of Bolton parish of Skipton was 19.4.1756 at Bolton Abbey but he was from Linton.
Their daughter Ellen born March, 1760.

My Gran's name was Fell also. My earliest Fell is William who married Elizabeth Johnston and they had a son Johnston Fell in 1793 in Lanark.

I found a lot of references to Fell family in this Parish register, long way south of your folk though!

My 3x GGrandfather was William Fell married to Janet Haddow in 1799 at Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He may have had a son Johnson b. 1792/3 and he may have had a son John Fell b. 1813 (illegitimate). His legitmate son Joseph Fell b. 1805 came to Canada with his father William in 1832.
I am trying to find more proof or any other info about this William Fell prob. born 1770-1777 in Scotland or England?
