Hi there
Could someone please look for a Oscar H Massie living in
Much Wenlock. He should be a Baker and Confectioner in
Shineton St. Could you start with the 1901 census please.
Sorry but i have no other info on him. :-[ >:(
regards IJL

Hi :)
I know you say you have nothing else on him - but - where you find him ? Is he a father off a marriage cert - or a potential husband ?
Just trying to get some sort of handle on possible age ;)
-
Hi there
Sorry no age. All i have on him is that he was evicted from Shineton St
in 1905 for outstanding rental payments. The name Massie cropped up
on the 1891 census when a Mary Massie, age 2, appeared as a grandaughter
to a Mary Lloyd ,

Well, the only birth reg. I can find for an Oscar Massie is 1884 in Madeley.
He seems to be Harry O Massie in Much Wenlock in 1891 :-\
There was an Oscar Massey born 1894 in Wandsworth, but too young to be yours, I guess.
I can't see either a Harry or an Oscar in Much Wenlock in 1901 - although his parents are still there.
Maybe - since the Boer War was in full swing - he was in the army in 1901 ?

Seeing the 1901 I went back to look at John's age in 1891 - definitely 60 - and 69 in 1901 ;)
In 1881 : RG11. P. 2640 Fol. 57 Pg. 10
There is an older son at home, Moses age 9, and Sarah - (age 19 in 1891 -) is living as grand-daughter with Mary Lloyd in Much Wenlock.
There is no birth registered for a Sarah Massie; there is a Sarah Lloyd in 1872 in Madeley.
-
Oh crickey I should come with a warning. John Massie was 69 in 1901!!
No sign of Oscar though.
I really should take more care with these copyings
Sorry for any extra work.
Off to bed for a good sleep
