Clara returned to England and took niece Ivy (Ashworth) back to USA (SS Scythia arrived Jan 20 1922 New York). They lived at 1777 Homestone Ave, Waterbury, Con.
On 1930 census: 7 Bristol Place, New Haven, Conn.:
Clara Kean 50 wid., b.Eng., son James Kean 23 b. Eng., son Frank Kean 17 b. Conn., son Leigh Kean 14 b. Conn.
James Robert (b. 1907) mar Agnes; Frank m. Ruth Griffin; Leigh m. Edith.
In addition to information on the Kean family – what happened to Ivy Ashworth?

Very many thanks for the information. Could you tell me what the following means, please?:

"rem to Bristol" means removed to Bristol, another town in Connecticut. I'm not sure off-hand what NHP&BCo means - probably New Haven (something) & (something) Co.
I don't see Clara in the Connecticut death index, which starts in 1949. The 1941 New Haven city directory has the following:
Kean, James R (Agnes L) chauf NHP&BCo h rear 141 Frank
Kean, Lee C. (Edith R) press feeder NHP&BCo h 354 Thompson av EH (I believe EH = East Haven) The 1942 directory has the same information, except James is a feeder instead of a chauffeur.
So, my best guess at that point would be that Clara may have (a) died, (b) remarried, or (c) moved.

The Connecticut death index has Frank Kean, who died 5 Dec. 1990 in Waterbury. He was born 9 Jul. 1912 in Waterbury. Marital status was married, spouse was Ruth. His occupation was retail real estate broker, and he resided 762 Walnut Hill Rd., Thomaston, Connecticut. There is also an entry for Ruth Kean, who died 6 Aug. 1992 in Hartford. She was born in Thomaston on 9 Apr. 1921. She was listed as widow of Frank. Occupation was production in "tech systems" industry. Education was Primary/Secondary.
There's a tree on Ancestry.com that has Leigh Clifford Kean, son of James Kean & Clara Clegg, born 5 Sep. 1915 in Waterville, Connecticut. It says he died Watertown, New York, but no date is given. It says his wife was Edith LaPointe born 8 May 1919 in New Haven. The SSDI has an entry for Edith, which lists her as dying Sep. 1974. I found death notices for a Leigh Kean, age 60, in some Syracuse, NY newspapers from Nov. 1975, but I don't see any mention of survivors or other personal info.

Many thanks for the information - it is very much appreciated.
When I put the request on to the site the last sentence was "left behind":
Clara Clegg was married 3 times (Clegg was her single name). Her name at time of death was Clara Bristow (her 3rd husband being “Uncle Ted” Bristow).
Sorry if I misled you. :-[ :-[ :-[
Thanks - Margaretmarion

Another question, please. What does: h 32 Elliott
mean? (See your previous info).
Also, why "remove to Bristol"? Was he in care, or a prisoner?
Thanks - Margaretmarion

'rem' (removed) means simply that he moved- in this case to the town of Bristol, Connecticut.
'h' (home) is his home address- in this case 32 Elliott St.

You're welcome, and thanks to RJ137 for the more recent info.
In case you have any other Connecticut people - since this thread was originally started, Connecticut has put up death and marriage indexes that cover 1897-1966. http://libguides.ctstatelibrary.org/hg/indexes
