Also Surveyor for the Norwegian Board of Trade, adress 21 Alma Place, North Shields, Newcastle.)

Hi Holum
Welcome to Rootschat!
I can't find a birth for John Lawrence in 1911, but there is a John L White registered in Tynemouth in the September quarter of 1910 - ref Tynemouth Sep 1910 10b/236 - which would be right for North Shields.
Apart from that I found Louisa H White (mother's name Neilson [sic]) in Newcastle upon Tyne in Dec 1911 10b/211
Other possible:
Stanley White Newcastle March 1913 10b/30 - mother's name Nelson
Gordon White Tynemouth March 1914 10b/655 - mother's name Nelson
I can't find a Joan at all.
The marriage for John and Gudrun took place Tynemouth Sep 1909 10b/323
Hope this helps
Ashley

Thank you.
Also got this, but IGI years can not be correct.
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/IGI/family_group_record.asp?familyid=94689316&indi_id=100000523252&lds=1®ion=12&frompage=99
Not easy to search from Norway.
-
Welcome Holum,
I've looked at the IGI record you linked to and this has been submitted by someone researching their family. The only true date is the birth of Gudrun, which agrees with your date. The others are simply guesses or estimates and should never be relied upon.
Only the IGI records extracted from actual church records are likely to be correct and even these are subject to transcription errors at times.
The information provided by Deryck and Ashley is from official civil registers. Do you need information on how to obtain birth/marriage certificates?
Christine

Also the marriage entry is incorrectly transcribed in freebmd
Transcription is:
NIELSSEN Gudru_ Tynemouth 10b 329
it is in fact
NIELSSEN Gudrun Tynemouth 10b 323 on the ancestry image.

Hello
Joan Amelia, born january 1931 Forest Hall Longbenton, Tynemouth OK.
Then this is spot on....
And Gladys White is widow when John Lawrence dies in 1984.
And she is also daughter in law when John Thomas dies in 1950.
Also in Forest Hall
Can it be this?
Marriages Mar 1944
WHITE John L Allan Nthmbld.S. 10b 423
Is not Allan a mans name?
-
Hi Holum
Alan (various spellings) is a man's name but in this case it is the maiden surname of the woman John White married. If you look further into the record you will see that he maried a lady called Gladys Allen who would, after marriage, become Gladys White.

http://www.marriage-locator.co.uk/cgi-bin/ML_search.cgi?year=1909&qtr=3&vol=10b&page=323&search=search
Marriage locator seems to indicate marriage took place between two Churches. Blyth, St Cuthbert or Seghill, Holy Trinity. Sometimes I have found that when using this site when two Churches are given marriage may (possibly) have taken place at one of them.
If you look at the marriage on Freebmd besides Gudrun's name is a little postem envelope. The postem has some contact details for someone if you are connected to this person (Gudrun). Click on this little envelope to open details.

Hello
Thank you the envelope was mine to attract family :-)
My task is to see if I can find my wifes family to vissit this summer.
Tank you. Vidar

This might sound like a daft idea but have you thought of putting a letter in one of our local newspapers with some of these ancestors' information and asking to meet up with your wife's family when you come.
The Newsguardian(covers NorthTyneside area and Blyth too I believe) or the Newcastle Evening Chronicle might be good ones for this ourpose.
Not so long ago I responded to someone overseas who placed a letter in the local Tyneside newspaper.

If you might be interested I will hunt out contact info for you and send by pm if an email is involved. We are not allowed to post emails on here.

Newcastle Electoral Register 1965
2 Benton Lodge Avenue
There were three people registered at that address who were eligible to vote:
Davison, Joan
Davison William C
White Gudrun
There is a likely marriage registration
Q1 1955 Northumberland South District
William C Davison and Joan A White
This link:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ngy/
Indicates that a Joan Davison, whose husband was called 'Bill' (William) died 27th April 2018
and searching the Govt site for probate records gives this result
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ngz/
Which shows that this lady's middle name was Amelia

Thank you all.
That was fantastic help!
Then my task is to locate William C Davison and Joan A White
and children:
Dave, John, Janet, Len, Christopher and Linden
Regards Vidar in snowy Oslo.

Ermm, Joan Amelia Davison (nee White) is potentially the lady who died last year.
(looks likely as its the right name, area, age at death etc)
As for her husband and other names in the death announcements, there is a strong possibility that they may still be alive, but the forum rules (and courtesy as this is a public forum) say we are not allowed to post about living people so we won't be able to give further help with them, sorry.

Hi Holum -
I believe you may be looking for me - I've just logged in to this site & I don't have a clue how to use it, but hopefully with my consent the site manager will pass you my email address - Joan Amelia White & William Campbell Davison were my parents - Gudrun was my grandmother. My sister lives in NZ now - she has 2 children in their twenties, the great great great great great grandchildren of Halvor Nielsen & Maren Houge. Now you know who who I am.
Regards to you & your family.
