Title: marriage cert. Lisnaskea 1870
Post by: kate57 on Thursday 04 June 09 11:48 BST (UK)
My Grt grandparents DANIEL LOUGHAN married MARGARET MAGUIRE in 1870 Registration district Lisnaskea. I am trying to order a copy of their marriage cert but the record office will not do a search unless I have the name of the church They were Roman Catholic. I have no other details about them eg Townland that would maybe help narrow the search. Any ideas anyone? Thank you.

was it the northern ireland records office that said they wouldn't do a search? if it was then i would go to the gro in roscommon and get it there. there have been  a couple of threads lately about groni, the information you can find on the pilot.familysearch site and the fact they seem to be not to happy about it. the information found on the pilot site is enough to get a cert from gro.ie

As tony says, others have had problems ordering certificates. If you order the certificate from GRONI give them name of bride and groom, year of marriage, registration district, page and volume number for civil index but do NOT mention LDS site.
