Title: Stott family - 1881 Eyemouth Fishing Disaster
Post by: MysticBreeze on Monday 08 June 09 07:56 BST (UK)
William Stott lost his three sons Robert, James and John and also his son-in-law Andrew Collin on board the Press Home boat during this storm.
Does anyone have access to the book "Children of the Sea" by Peter Aitchinson or any other information that may help with information with regard to this particular family??

I have Children of the sea. I also have a tree for a number of Stotts and related families. I did a tree for a friends wife she was a Stott before marriage. William was her 2g grandfather as was his brother James :o  The Stotts married into both sides of her family :)

Hi not sure if this is still an active enquiry but the following link is an archived resource of the Geocities page listed previously.  A great resource for the names of the crews who perished in the Eyemouth Disaster also the boat names, from which harbour the boats came from and also details of the boats and crews that survived

William Spouse was my great x 3 grandfather, skipper of the progress. His son was John was Roy's old man and Roy is Stan Spouse's old man, my maternal grandfather. Thomas Spouse went down too sadly. Many did, many grieved. Man if great great great grandad Bill went down that day, I'd never have been here to give everyone the s**ts lol. Very frank man my grandfather, friendly too. Some of it probably ended up here. Family legend says about 9 or 10 Spouse family members went the way of the ancients that day. I don't see the record for it. Try looking up Spouse though and see that you don't get Mary, spouse of Arthur etc. A piece of Eyemouth dwells here in Adelaide, Australia. We ended up here because grandad Roy moved to Kalgoorlie Western Australia where my grandfather Stan Spouse was born. Feel free to see the pics of Roy and John. Roy is standing beside his mate about 1912 and grandpa John looks like a wooly bush ranger.
