Gail,
I cannot help with your grandmother but these look like her parents.
14 Oct 1913 James Hobbs married Elizabeth Jane Brownlee in Albert Street Presbyterian Church in Shankill, Belfast.
Regards

Gail,
A little more. The 1911 census is on line and there is a James Hobbs with a wife called Elizabeth and two earlier children. See www.census.nationalarchives.ie.
Regards
Modification. Oops, link does not work. Google 1911 census and select 1911 census Ireland.

Hi Gail,
I believe that the Lily Brownlee (legal name Elizabeth Jane Brownlee) who was married to James Hobbs in 1913, was my grandfather Thomas Brownlee’s youngest sibling. Lily was the only sibling who did not emigrate to either Canada or the US.
Elizabeth Jane (Lily) Brownlee’s parents were Thomas Brownlee and Jane Grimason. Thomas and Jane had eight children:
Rachel
William
Thomas (my grandfather)
Mary
Margaret (Maggie)
Joseph
Susanna (Anna)
Elizabeth Jane (Lily)
If you would like more information, please let me know.

Thank you for the welcome!
Yes, my grandfather Thomas appears on the 1901 Census. He was 16 years old at the time of the census.
I’m trying to find more information about his youngest sister Elizabeth (Lily). I found her marriage record to James Hobbs in 1913. From Gail’s comments above, it would appear that she had two children (Lilian and Jim). In a 1969 New Jersey obituary for Elizabeth’s sister Sussana (Anna), it states that she had a surviving sibling in Belfast — “Mrs. Lou Davidson”. Perhaps Elizabeth remarried later in life? Any assistance in locating further information about Elizabeth would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Only one child found between 1914 and 1919 on GRONI.
Here is the birth of Lillian on 12th February 1914. #481

Hi.. Very interesting reading my great grandmother was lily brownlee married to james hobbs. Their daughter lilian was my grandmother.. Very sad events. Lily and James died within a week of each other when their daughter was expecting my mum.. Lilian died due to burns when my mum was about 6..she had been pregnant with a son who died shortly after birth. I have. More. Details on my computer. Lily hobbs had 2 sons who seemed to disappear off the radar, rumour was they went to Australia or America..
