Title: NSW birth David Jon EVANS lookup please
Post by: mcvicars on Friday 26 June 09 18:24 BST (UK)
Tracing my father's family tree; my grandmother Emily Eva Craig was born Emily Eva EVANS to David Jon Evans and Emily Jane Richard in Stockton in 1889. Looking for birth record and thus parents of her father, David Jon EVANS (married Emily Jane Richard in 1882 in Wallsend)
Family stories suggest the Evans' line originates in Wales but am not sure how far back; ie is David from Wales or born here?
thankyou in anticipation of any assistance, regards mcvicars

Not sure if you have this inscription from the West Wallsend Cemetery.

There is also a photo of the grave.

Inscription for David John Evans

Cemetery: West Wallsend General
Family Name: Evans
Given Names: David John
Birth Date: Not Available
Death Date: 22 Jul 1919
Age at death: 59y
Remarks: h/Emily Jane

ADDING EMILY's little sister EDIE (EDITH) is buried with her father.  She died in1908 aged 5 years.

As suggested in Relpy #1, if you decide to get the marriage certifcate, you will see DAVID's age at marriage and this may help you to look through a possible immigration for him at....

or to search nsw bdm online to find a birth in Australia.

Death Registration for David John Evans shows his parents

16418/1919 EVANS DAVID J father THOMAS mother ANNIE district reg WEST WALLSEND

http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm

His Death Certificate, should you choose to get it, may show when he came to Australia if he wasn't born here. It may also have where he was born.

I think this is the death of Emily Jane EVANS

1895/1930  EVANS  EMILY J father   EDWARD mother   ESTHER @  KURRI KURRI

There is  a birth  of a daughter to the couple with a slight mistrancription (or perhaps she used the name Amelia too)

286460/1883  EVANS  ESTHER A. father DAVID mother AMELIA J. at WALLSEND.

The link below will take you to the Hunter Valley Family History Soc. and if you search the index of "name interests" for Evans, you will be directd to email addresses for others searching the name in the distrct of WALLSEND.

Thankyou so much Sue and bikermickau!! What wonderfully helpful people you are!! I have only recently started researching family tree ( the death of my mum prompted me to capture the past) I had stated on  my maternal grandmother's side and Rootschat people on the Scotland site were amazingly helpful - indeed Im currently in UK and going to visit my grandmother's birth town in next fortnight. I had less success with Australian side and now you guys have started me down the right tracks - just ever so grateful
