This is from the 1861 Census RG 09 Piece 2612 Folio 64 Page 12 - the Bailey family - can anyone work out the place of birth of the youngest (William) in Sussex? Most of the page are Staffordshire Biddulph - mother Ellen is Hampshire Southampton (other Staffs places on same page are Chell, Tunstall, Rushton and Horton). Thanks

Many thanks - lizdb can you please give me a reference for 1851 as I haven't got them on that yet (I'm on FindMyPast which is incomplete) - now trying to imagine what a Staffordshire farmer's wife was doing in Worthing in 1840/1841 ???
OOPs - modified - realised as I hit post you'd already done that - apologies!!!!!
-
Do you want the full transcript of it, or have you got access?
-
lizdb - I'd appreciate the full transcript for 1851, many thanks again.

Now I was worried for a mo that I havent got the right family, as you say he was a farmer, and this one is a glass n china dealer.
But wifes birtplace, and all children tie up, so I am sure it is.

Lizdb - thanks - I agree it's the right one - he was a farmer in 1861 & in his will ("of Troughstones" died 1868) - must have branched out a bit in 1851 - I'll have a wander through the directories and see if I get lucky, though I think Bailey is the most common name in this area...
-
mshrmh you mentioned the will of thomas bailey of troughstones died 1868 wondered where i could find it thanks jjb
-
jjb - welcome to RootsChat - sorry not to reply earlier, I've been away from a computer for a few days.
As Thomas died after 1858 his will is available from the court service by post for £5:
http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/cms/1226.htm
I think Lichfield Records Office may also have a transcribed copy from the local probate office - what I have is a scan of a transcription done by a family member many years ago, which version they had access to I don't know.
I'm guessing there may be a family interest. If you'd like the basics I'd be happy to pass them along via a personal message (PM). You need to have made three posts on RootsChat to be able to use the PM system so you'd need a couple more - a couple of one liners on this thread would count. I'd also be interested if you've anything you can share.
-
mshrmh that would be good yes family connection do you have connection
-
mshrmh just the 3rd post

jjb - I've sent a PM
