Hi
I am researching my Grandfather's family and know that they moved to Dover from Freiston near Boston Lincs in the 1890s.
I would be grateful for any information anyone may have.
-
Hi,
1st names would help :)
-
I take it JOHN HARROD b1815 would be one of yours?
-
Hi, I am currently at work but will post names etc when i get home.
1815 would be too early I am afraid.
I do know that they lived at 196 Clarendon Place from arrival for quite a few years.
-
I bet theres a connection along the line :)
-
Possibly. There is a strong Lincolnshire line but my GGF suddenly uprooted and went to Dover to work in the Admiralty Works. Perhaps a relative was already there?

Hi Allan1, welcome to RootsChat.
I can find one Baptism in 1927, & a Marriage in 1940 (plus one in 1862).
Also one stray having his Banns called in Bridge in 1920 (he's 'of Eastry')
I can't post the details as they may well be still alive & we are not allowed to discuss living people on here.
If they are likely to be yours, I'll be happy to send the details by private message.

Hi Betty
Thanks for your welcome. I only found the site this morning by chance. slow work day :) but I like what I see already,
Yes please PM me. I understand the problem of posting names.
Thanks.

Following on from bearkat's 1901 census details with the address, the 1927 baptism looks likely. It was for a daughter of Thomas & Isabel.
The address was 196 Clarendon Place, & Thomas was a Bandsman in the Queens Rgt.
