I have now uploaded a 1935 street plan of Glasgow for the benefit of members researching the city. To access the map go to http://www.artus-familyhistory.com/source/Early%20Maps.html/source/Early%20Maps.html and click on the Glasgow 1935 link.
Enjoy.

Great Eric. Good to have. I've got a small collection of maps of Glasgow but not one from this era.
Thanks

You're welcome, Dave. Seems to be one of the most popular maps I've put up.
Dozens of views already.

Eric
That's brilliant - thanks for putting it online! The Manchester maps are pretty neat too.

PS I might have known Dave would be first in! ;D

Eric, may I just say thanks?
I'd not seen your site nor maps like this before - brilliant!

Thanks, Maggie. The reason that I began the maps project initially was because I could never find a decent on-line street map. Now I get hits from every area imaginable. I even had a visit from someone in Vatican city http://www.artus-familyhistory.com/source/Early%20Maps.html/source/Pics.html few weeks ago!
Regards.

Now, that's an impressive hit! :)
Any chance you'll get access to THEIR records? ;D

Hi, Dave. Probably just checking up on me. :) But, seriously, I get hits from lots of educational institutions, councils and schools. Some folks browse for hours, occasionally.
By the way, is that a Tawny you have in your picture? I kept one when I was a young lad. Beautiful bird.

It is indeed a tawny owl Eric. Sadly, not mine. Was visiting a bird of prey centre near Sheffield. Got talking to the handler and he kindly let me hold it.
An amazing experience.
-
Can I add my thanks too, Eric. This era is of great worth to me.
And, to Dave, I have to say that your picture with the owl is superb. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Cheers guys

Still trying to work out which is the better looking. The owl is possibly slightly ahead. :)

Not wishing to detract from the main point of your thread Eric but thanks for comments about pic.
Owl much better looking! ;D

Hi daval57,
I'm thrilled with the Glasgow 35 map, my parents lived there in 35 when first married, but I only have an 01 street guide and as you are aware streets have changed, so this is fabulous.
Thanks, from Australia.

Catie,
I'd love to take the credit for this but all thanks go to Eric. (Orinoco)

Thanks, folks. Nice to know it is appreciated. Still a lot of work to be done on it. I am currently enhancing the Manchester 1930 map, replacing illegible street names etc.
All takes time, but the maps look better eventually.
Will hopefully be putting up a plan of Edinburgh in the future.

Thanks Dave, I was too busy looking at the bird that I put the wrong name on the reply.
Yes ,Orinoco, can certainly have the credit for his helpfulness to others.
Happy hunting!

Hi Eric,
I just wanted to repeat what everyone else has said so far. These maps are fabulous. Ive just come across this link, and Im glad I did.
Not only is the Glasgow map of use to me, I was delighted to study your London map from 1818. I am trying to seek my Huguenot ancestors within Bethnal Green area, so seeing the details on the map has been invaluable....so thank you.
Keep up the much appreciated work!
Kind regards
Hazel

orinoco, thanks its lovely to have those maps.I am going to study them at length later to find out where my grandparents lived whren they got married in 1939. also the street where my mum grew up in is no longer there according to G***le maps :(
It will be nice to find it on this map and show it to my mum!
Thanks
Annette :)
