I wonder if anyone could tell me where Stangate Hill is. One of my ancestors was born there about 1847. His father was a woodman/forester - was there an estate or similar around the same area?
Any information will be very welcome.

sherard tomlinson born 1970 married either mary eliza hand or annie hunt in 1901 (or so i believe) have not got the marriage certifcate yet. he died in 1903 of pneumonia. hope this is of some use. shall be away for the next 3 days

Bit late to the party ;) but Sherard Tomlinson married Annie Hunt who is in my tree. They had a son Sherard who I believe went to Canada with his grandfather Thomas Hunt and is in the 1911 census there as Thomas' son named Sherwood Hunt. Annie remains in England but think she must have remarried.

Thank you very much barbara13511 for your information. I have tried to track Annie down but no luck. Haven't got the right sub to Ancestry to follow Sherard. Never mind, I'm grateful that you at least confirmed Annie Hunt was married to Sherard.

Good news found the bapts at the above, of Sherrard, son of Samuel/Martha, Tomblinson
a Sawyer.21.3.1847.just checked the1851 census, family not in the village.Margaret.

Martha at home 88 Low Town Lane, Worksop with Joseph, John, Sherard and Wilson.
Samuel lodger at Wood House, High Hutton, Huttons Ambo, North Yorkshire.
Would love any info about John Tomlinson Samuel's father.

Annie Hunt born 1881 Royston to Thomas Hunt and Caroline Wilson. She married Sherard in 1901 at Felkirk. Parents emigrated in 1904 and were in Wentworth Ontario in 1911 Canadian census there.

Hunt family in Canada................Annie/Hannah nee Hunt/Tomlinson - not found so far, although the son did show on the 1911 census of Canada under Sherard Hunt.
