am trying to find details of John Noble & Margaret Noble (nee Pattison). I know that they were in Durham until until 1857 where they had two children. Their next 4 children (William, John, Thomas & Elizabeth) were born in America and then they were back in Durham by 1868 for the birth of their final two children who were born in Castle Eden. John and Margaret are on the 1860 Census in America but just dissapear after this point. All of the children are living with grandparents on the 1871 census.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Louise

Hi
You give no idea of the ages or places of birth for John & Margaret but there
are these deaths, the first one here is probably the same Margaret but the numbers are different
Deaths Mar Quarter 1871
Noble Margaret aged 42 Easington 10a 241
NOBLE Margaret aged 42 Easington 10a 244 This one I have looked at on the register and is the correct number
Also
Margaret Noble
born abt 1836
Sep Quarter 1875 aged 39 Easington District Durham
10a 302
Of course, if one of them hasn't died they may have remarried.
I noticed that Mary Noble is given as the mother and not grandmother.
Wendy :)
Census was taken on the 2nd April 1871.

Sorry, John Noble was born abt.1828 in Durham - Parents = William Noble and Mary Hutton. Margaret Pattison was born abt.1828 I don't have a birth place for Margaret - Parents = Thomas Pattison and Mary Coates.

hi louise,i am also decedent from john noble and margaret pattison. His mother who looked after the family from 1871 was Mary Cook (Cooke) when she married William Noble who was killed in mine explosion in 1838. In 1849 she married William Hutton and should have put her name as Mary Hutton in 1871 census which she did so in the 1881 John Noble (*)

in 1851,john noble was a 23 year old railway labourer and was a lodger 66 ropery lane throston,Hartlepool. Not wanting to work down the mine as his father William had been killed in mine explosion at South Hetton he must have come to Hartlepool for work. The Hartlepool to cassop railway passed through Castle Eden Colliery ( Hesleden ) where sometime in the future he met and married Margaret Pattison in 1853. By 1860 when he migrated to america he was probably already a qualified engineer ( driver ) gg grandson, John Noble
