Title: Old Radnor Church Records enquiry
Post by: JohnCH on Saturday 12 September 09 17:16 BST (UK)
I am trying to find out any information I can about a Hugh Dale, whose d.o.b. I estimate as being around 1650-70. I believe he was born in, or near the village of Old Radnor and baptised there.

This Hugh Dale - and the name of his wife, as yet unknown, is greatly hampering me in my research. Is there some kind person who could help me establish some information on this ancestor please?  Thank you.  JohnCH.

Hi,
The information you require is on the IGI www.familysearch.org. I think it is all on the ancestral file, so needs to be double checked, but the submitter's name & address is available & you could write to her in order to verify the accuracy.
Thomas & Patience would appear to have had many children & were married on 3 Feb 1700/01 at Cascob. Patience was buried 27 May 1732.
Children  Thomas bpt abt 1702   Cascob
               Hugh bpt abt 1704     Cascob
                Patience bpt abt 1707 Cascob
Richard bpt 10 Sep 1709 Cascob death 6 Feb 1730/31
John bpt 4 Apr 1712 Old Radnor
George bpt 1 Oct 1713 Old Radnor md Mary Evans, he was bd Lyonshall 21 May 1762
Joseph bpt 15 Jly 1716 Old Radnor
                Jane bpt 14 Apr 1718  Death 16 Feb 1729/30
I notice also that a Hugh Dale married a Mary Thomas at Presteigne 3 Jun 1780 - would seem too late for the son but might be a grandson?
The IGI is free to search & quite easy to follow, so best to check what I have sent incase I have missed one, but if you have problems finding the name of the submitter, send me a personall mail & I will forward her address.
Kay

Thank you very much indeed, Kay for this information. I am indebted to you for supplying helpful dates which will firm-up my research still further. I will do as you suggest and check it all out. I should dearly like to know Patience's (Thomas' wife's) maiden name. All good wishes and many thanks.  John.
