Title: Burials terminology
Post by: Eyesee on Wednesday 16 September 09 22:45 BST (UK)
Have found some burials in St Sepulchre Holborn in the 1740s.

Philip, s. John & Mary Remington from Fleet Lane in Bay

Can anyone tell me what in Bay means. Others had in Chick. Suspect it might be where they were buried as some had in Vault, or in North.

Thanks

Hi

St Sepulchre churchyard ran out of space so a piece of land in Chick Lane was also used as a burial ground which would confirm these are burial areas and that this might mean under a bay in the nave.

Contacting the Guildhall Library would confirm or give another explanation.
