My wife has William STREEK born Windsor, Berkshire circa 1844. Appreciate lookup in 1861 census please any Streek families in Berks or Dorset. He married Christina Andrews in Sherborne Dorset in 1865 so unsure where he was precisely in 1861. thanks

I'm having problems finding him - maybe someone else can do better!
I notice that the marriage registration and the 1871 census are in the name of STREET, not STREEK:
Marriages Jun 1865
ANDREWS Christian
STREET William Robert
Sherborne 5a 673
1871
RG10/1401; Folio 9; Page 16
Chalvey Ragstone, Slough, Bucks
William STREET - Head - 35 - Upholsterer & Porter - Binfield, Berks
Christian STREET - 26 - Laundress - Sherborne, Dorset
Flora M STREET - Dau - 6 mo - Slough, Bucks
Births Sep 1870
STREET Flora Mary A
Eton 3a 446
I read William's age on the 1871 census as 35, which would mean he was born c1835 - ???
I haven't spotted the family after 1871 - do you have them on any other census, or know of other children?

Extracted christening records from IGI:
Flora Mary Ann STREET - dau of William STREET and Christian - chr. 5 Feb 1871, Upton Cum Chalvey, Bucks.
Nelly and Annie STREET - daughters of William Robert STREET and Christian - chr. 25 Aug 1868, Upton Cum Chalvey, Bucks.
(Nelly died aged 2 in 1870 - not sure about Annie.)

Thanks very much Rambler. This really helps a lot. I've seen confusion about Streek/Street elsewhere. I need to find birth record for William. They certainly used Streek exclusively after they came here. The family migrated to Australia arriving 25 Sep 1874 on Zoroaster. They arrived here with Flora aged 3, Annie aged 2 & William aged 1. Daughter Ellen Zora was born during the voyage (10 days out of Brisbane).
Cheers

I guess you dont have the Marriage Cert to reveal his Fathers name and their occupations?
-
Ah! Well that explains why I couldn't find them in later censuses!
I can't see a birth registration for William Robert STREET/STREEK, but if the earlier birth date is correct, it was before the start of civil registration, so you will need parish registers.
However, William's marriage cert will give his father's name/occupation, and maybe help locate him on earlier censuses.

Wow! Thip is really great info. Thank you.
-
so do you have the marriage Cert to confirm that Wm's father was Thomas?
-
No, don't have the marriage cert. but should have enough info now to apply for it. many thanks

Wondering if any firm info on ancestors to William and Christina Streek (nee Andrews) and the discussed possible disparity in family name (Street? Sheek?) was established? Wm. Streek is my G-G-Grandfather, and plenty of info on Streek family in Australia available...but keen to learn more of William's ancestors.
