Title: A Death in Holyhead in 1930
Post by: remann on Wednesday 04 November 09 18:33 GMT (UK)
Hi,  I would like to find the district in Holyhead  where Ellen Lydon died in 1930, which, in turn would help to
trace where she might be buried, is a death cert. the route to take ?.
Her husband had been a coastguard officer there, and I believe died there, before her.
Any advice/help would be much appreciated
                                          Thanks

Thanks cardiff,
I only know of what became of 2 of the boys, William and Ronald(born 1912) Joseph was in the Navy, but I
haven't managed to find his death, and know nothing about the daughters, so thought that it may be one way
of finding a daughters married name, if she had registered Ellen's death, so I think that a death cert. is the way
to go next, thank you for the address of Reg. Office.
                                   Thanks

The main cemetery in Holyhead is Maeshyfryd, the graves are mainly in year order, the staff there are very helpful, the Town Hall will give you a grave reference but I think there is a charge for this info

The coastguard houses are still there in Newry Beach not far from the ferry terminal to Ireland.

Death cert best idea will give you more info.

I know Rochester have only been there a few times though.
I would be interested to know where they lived and if any of the family stayed in Holyhead.

Hi, for no particular reason have just tapped in my dad's name and 'Holyhead'to Google, I linked to this site  and found some old posts of yours which made me quite exited.. I saw Ronald Lydon mentioned (my dad) and the names of his brothers and sisters. Also my Grandmother was Manson and Galway is probably where my Grandfather came from. My Dad was born in Lowestoft I think, (his dad, my Grandfather was an officer in The Coastguard in Holyhead)
He joined The Royal Navy, as did my Uncle William (Bill)...

I am fascinated that you have been looking into a part of your family tree which touches mine..
Excuse me if this is a bit random.

Jon

Hi Joseph Lydon (d 30/9/1930) was my great grandfather.  I am keen to find John Hudson who was one of the grandchildren - possibly son of Joseph Ellis Lydon.  I may be wrong but Joe died in a motorbike accident and his wife remaried, hence the different surname.  Any thoughts?
