hi mjac  :)

was the marriage to william cursiter a second marriage ?
in 1881 there is a jane cooper at whip age 56 farmers widow born fair isle
looking at her son john cooper(b. 1849) it looks like his parents were
james cooper and jane lesslie(leslie ?)

James Coopers parents were William Cooper and Janet Brock both Stronsay

hi ev, yes I have done a fair bit of noseying around in the cursiter background but still looking for the elusive charles leslie and elizabeth malcomson marriage/parents etc trouble is it is such a common name in those parts. jane leslie and james cooper married in 1849 so  charles leslie and elizabeth malcomson could have married about 1820ish, probably in fair isle

sorry! should also have added that jane cooper/leslie died 16/11/1905 aged 80 so that would make her birth date around 1825. I have quite a lot of info on the cooper side but not a lot on the leslie,s or malcomsons

Hi again, just been looking at the marriage of james cooper and jane leslie and the witnesses were john leslie and ann leslie among others, so looks like jane had 2 relatives at least

also one elizabeth malcomson born 20/10/1800 in dunrossness, shetland( fair isle)
