Sorry for the lack of info, My g,father Wilfred Fowler was born 1894,ggfather was John Fowler born 1856 and married Mary Elizabeth Ailmore born1861, my gggfather was Edward Fowler b 1826 i can go back as far as Charles Fowler b  1785 and married Ann Knigh ? b 1791, just 1 of the problems I have is in the 1941 census of wich i have a copy there is a John Fowler aged 3 months living with another family (at the bottom of page 11) and on page15 a Mary Fowler living with the family after Charles's Mary was aged 1.    Also ifanyone has an old photograph of Great Lane in Greetham I would be very grateful for a copy
Thanks
Keith

Hello Keith,
I have just come across the Fowler's via Eleanor Ailmore/Aylmore.

You may be able to confirm my findings.

I think Ellen Ailmore married Edward Fowler, their son John married Mary Ailmore ( Ellen's niece).

Ellen was the dr of Richard & Elizabeth Ailmore and her brother Joseph bn abt 1836 married Mary ? and had a dr Mary Ailmore bn abt 1861.

Hello KR
I have just checked the BMD and found that Edward Fowler married Ellen Webster both are on the GRO Oakham record Vol15 Page 1063
they married on the same day as Edwards brother Charles
hope this helps
if you need anything looking up on the Rutland 1841 census just let me know
all the best keith

Hello Keith,

Yes, I have looked on GRO, there are three male names and two female names for June qt 1851.

But if you put in Ellen Aylmore June qt 1851, up comes Ellen's name without a male counterpart.

I have looked at the page for Ellen Aylmore and although it gives page 1963 on BMD I think it is 1063.

Hi,

Just a thought.

Is it possible that Charles Fowler & Mary  Toone had a daughter Sarah 1809,  Mary died and Charles remarried, Ann ?

Speculation I'm afraid.

It would be interesting to know who the parents were for the John Fowler 3mth 1841 (your earlier post)  in the Household of Sarah (nee, Fowler) Glenn.

It might be worth posting to see if anyone has burials for Greetham.

on the 1841 census john was only 3mths old and living with william and sarah gleua (another spelling) the plot thickens!   i was wondering if my gg grandfather was the only one in the village with a push bike. ha ha
Roy if you get chance to go to greetham its a lovely unspoilt hamlet I went over xmas and had a walk around the grave yard but it was under a foot of snow
