Title: Williamson William or Alex
Post by: Alberta exile on Tuesday 01 December 09 00:57 GMT (UK)
The birth certificate of Johanna Williamson b. 17/01/1824 at  Yell Mid and South shows her father to be Alex.
Her death certificate 23/01/1870 showed the fathers name as William. deceased
The witness was John Williamson which was probably Johannas' son
Can anyone shed any light on her parents?
It looks like Margaret Davidson was her mothers name.
Thanks
Ian

Hi Everyone
Thanks for helping
Johan did marry a John Williamson b. Midlothian in 1823.
They had a son William b. 1845
Johan died January 23 in Edinburgh 1870
I think the John Williamson may have been from her husbands side.
The christening record for Johan shoes father Alex
Her marriage certif July 19 1841 shows William as her father a labourer from Shetland deceased.
In the 1841 census Edinburgh there is a Margaret Williamson age 50 from outside the census county and an Isabella Williamson age 11.
I am wondering if that could be Johans Mum because based upon her Dad gone by her wedding day the mum would have been on her own.

I saw that on the 1851 census, interesting that
Catherine Robertson the female lodger was born in the Shetlands.

johann must have been very young when she married does it give an age on her marriage cert?

Johans marriage certif was written in a very nice hand, sadly her age was not recorded.
The 1851 Census has her as Hannah age 30 [b.1821]
The death certificate in January 1870 has her age as 46 [b.1824] She had turned 46 six days earlier
