Title: Can't find the Marriage ....
Post by: liverpool annie on Tuesday 05 January 10 18:14 GMT (UK)

I have this John and a few more children born to John and Wilhelmina Avery - but I can't find a marriage for them ! I wonder if somebody else can see it please ?

Baptism - 24th June 1832 at St Nicholas Liverpool - John Robert Avery - Son of John Avery ( mariner) and Williamina (different spellings of course !) living at Eldon Place

Hi Annie :)

I guess you'll have looked on familysearch and seen the incomplete submitted entry for John Avery to a Wilhelmina, 1836?  No church given - on the other hand, could there have been a grain of truth in the submitter's information?  Could they have married later having had the children recorded under married parents - as one of my pairs of gggrandparents did for three children - then got married later? :-\

just a thought!  I put it in with quite a wide boundary, because I saw he was a mariner, and we get loads up here in Cumbria who marry in another port, then appear back from Wales, Liverpool, Ireland, Isle of Wight and beyond, having children here ::) ::) ::) ::) ::).

Best wishes

Emms :)

Hi Annie :)

Yep, they're a pain to follow, but they're certainly fascinating to read up on, when you find them!

Emms ;D ;D ;D

Hi Annie,
I followed your replies to the thread re the merchant steam ship 'Cellina' (AKA Empire Sailor) because my grandfather was the captain (Rodolfo Muntjan), when the British captured her in Gibraltar in 1940. He escaped with his life but lost all his belongings, including all his ship model making tools. He later captained another steam ship for the Italians called Laura C but was torpedoed, again escaping! You mentioned you had a pen and ink picture of 'Cellina'. Would it be possible for you to send me a copy?
Regards,
