Title: Katherine or Catherine CROWTHER nee FLYNN
Post by: CJCollins260168 on Thursday 07 January 10 12:35 GMT (UK)
Hi

I wonder if anybody is able to help us find some more information about this person.

Born as Katherine Flynn in 1868
Married Henry Crowther in 23 Jan 1887
In 1910 she was admitted to Long Grove Asylum, Epsom but moved to Leavesden Mental Hospital in October 1933.

Weare trying to find records relating to her and also her death record.  At some point her christian name became Catherine rather than Katherine.

Any help very much appreciated.

Thank you.
Caroline

Yes I saw that one thank you, but that is 3 years too young as she was born in 1868.  Thank you for helping.

It does say estimated age. It could be that who ever registered the death didn't know her actual age, remember the register put down what they were told and didn't ask for proof of age.

oh okay thank you.  Is the only way of finding out if it is her by ordering the death cert?

Probably. However, that might not tell you if it's her or not, unless she died in Leavesdon when it would be too much of a coincidence  ;D The only way of knowing for sure would be if a relative that you know of registered the death. I'm not sure if maiden names were stated on death certificates in the 1940s, if so that would tell you if it was her.

Good luck

There isno more family members that know.  The only info is what I had when I first posted.
I'd like to find as much as I can.  This is for my aunt in law and Katherine/Catherine was her grandmother but she never knew her.  My aunty has terminal cancer so I'm trying to get as much as I can for her.  Thank you again.

I see from the marriage that her father was Patrick. Have you got her in the censuses? I've found her in 1871 in Walmer if you need it.

Hi Jan

I'm not sure but I do know that the father Patrick was from Cork, so it does seem like a possible match.

Thanks

Hi

The only problem is I've found Patrick and Ann in 1881 still in Walmer but only Ellen, Annie and Janey are with them. His occupation is given as Superanuated Coastguard and they are living at 1 Castalia Villa, Walmer.

RG11/998/121/17

This doesn't tie in with the details on the marriage does it?
