This is one of my husband's direct ancestors - would love to hear from anyone else.
I've looked and it wasn't a common name - about 250 in all of England in 1881. Not much more than that today.

Hi andarah,
Have you got anymore information on your Trezise side?
Many of the Cornish men travelled to other Countries to find work, my Trezise connection is St Just Cornwall, deaths Navadaville,Colorado, USA....there are many Trezise families in the USA from Cornwall
Richard Trezise b1863 Kendijack, Cornwall- 1914 Gilpin, Colorado, He was the second husband to Nannie Thomas b1858 Cornwall died 1934 Gilpin , Colorado.
He had a child to his first wife (don't know her name yet) Richard Trezise 1887 born Colorado, then John Thomas Trezise 3/12/1894 Colorado, from his second wife Nannie.
His parents were John Trezise 1822 and Elizabeth 1824 both from St Just, Cornwall...possibly Kendijack.
His siblings were:
John 1845 Elizabeth 1848, Amelia1853, William 1855, Thomas1858, Henry 1860.

I have Elizabeth Trezise, who was born about 1793 in Redruth, Cornwall.
She married Henry Baker of Morval, Cornwall.
I have them in Liverpool in the 1841 census. They raised their children in Cornwall. I do not know where they married, if they went to Liverpool together or met and bonded in Liverpool because of a common background. All of their children were born in Liverpool and the first one was in 1815 (so they moved before 1815, if the census is correct).
Someone else who has done more tracing than me in this line has Elizabeth's father as Nicholas Trezise (1765).
That's all I know at this point.
It doesn't sound like our lines are linked, but who knows? Elizabeth's brother could have moved to St Just. Do you have any more information?
-
I just checked and the transcriber made a mistake for the 1841 census.
The children born prior to 1822 were born in Cornwall and the children born after 1826 were born in Liverpool. Knowing that ages were rounded quite a bit in the 1841 census, I would say they moved to Liverpool in the 1820s.
-
Hi andarah, :)
That's all I have on my Trezise relatives, there are too many people with that surname and without years of birth, things could get very muddled. :-\
I did look at the census for 1841, in the 1851 and 1861 ,it says that James was born in Pill, Somerset, he is still with his parents in Liverpool. Are you sure all the children before him were born in Cornwall?
If you are just looking for Trezise connections, perhaps it would be better to put a Look-up Request for the marriage of Henry Baker and Elizabeth Trezise.

Hi
Have a look on this site. I found it by mis-spelling the name TREZISE as TRESIZE. My post is the second one down.
http://genforum.genealogy.com/tresize/
My (wife's) Trezise family also hail from St Just and Sancreed in West Cornwall.
Happy hunting.

Hi,
I've just discovered this thread.
Elizabeth Trezise & Henry Baker are my 3x great grandparents. They were both born in Cornwall but moved to Bristol were they married at St Michael's Church in 1810. They moved to Liverpool around 1825. They had at least 11 children, 6 born in Bristol and 5 born in Liverpool.
If anyone wants more information please get in touch.
Regards,
Paul

Liverpool Town Hall's WW1 Roll of Honour has Lieut ET Baker, RFC among its 13000 names. No other information is given there.
I found him to be Eric Tresize Baker, died in France on 19/1/18 and remembered on the Arras Flying Services memorial.
His War Graves Commission entry gives him as:
"Son of Thomas Trezise Baker and Ellen Susan Baker, of Orrel Park, Liverpool"[there should be two Ls], and his Squadron as 65.
I hope this is of interest.

I knew about Eric on the CWGC site, he is the great grandson of Henry Baker & Elizabeth Trezise, but I haven't heard of the Town Hall Roll of Honour. What does it consist of and how does one view it?

You can do a virtual tour of the Town Hall via this:
<http://www.civichalls.liverpool.gov.uk/townhall/index.asp>
This will show the Memorial Hall among other rooms, but not the detail of the panels, of which there are over 60, arranged by first letter of surname but not otherwise. If you want to see Baker's entry, send me a pm with your email, as I have photos of most of the entries.
You can visit personally, but check beforehand in case there is a function in progress. The staff are helpful.

PS There may be a delay if not requested by midnight Sunday...

I've just discovered this thread
My mother's uncle was Thomas Trezise Baker & her brother was Rowlands Trezise Baker who emigrated to Australia in the 1920's with his brother Ernest, Rowlands died in Roseberry Tasmania 1959 & Ernest died in Sydney. Rowlands christian name came from his mother Elizabeth Rowlands who married Henry Baker in Liverpool at St Phillip's church in 1847 their eldest son was William Rowlands Baker, the use of the mothers maiden name has helped me find my ancestors, now Trezise has helped me find another link. I would like to hear from Paul with more information.

Hi Aintree,
I'm not Paul, but I hope you don't mind hearing from me.
Your Henry (who married Elizabeth Rowlands) was the child of Elizabeth Tresize and Henry Baker.
Elizabeth Tresize was born in Redruth abt 1793 to Nicholas Tresize (abt 1765) and Mary Shepherd (abt 1763). Mary Shepherd's parents were Samuel Shepherd and Hannah Austin.
Henry Baker was born in Morval abt 1785 to Matthew Baker (abt 1749) and Mary Olver (1750). Matthew Baker is the child of Thomas Baker (abt 1720) and Jane Toms (abt 1718). Jane is the daughter of Matthew Toms and Mary Charlick.
Elizabeth Tresize and Henry Baker are my husband's gggg grandparents, through their daughter, Sarah.

Hi,
My grandfather, John Baker, was a cousin of Rowlands Trezise Baker. John had a butcher's shop on Longmoor Lane, Aintree. You are right about the Rowland & Trezise names they are very helpful for sorting out several of the family lines.
I'll send you a personal message with my email address & you can get in touch with me if you want to swop information.

Hi
Thanks to Andarah for info I never thought that I would get any further than Henry Baker & Elizabeth Rowlands. Paul I remember my mum telling us that her cousin had a butchers shop, I thought his name was Richard Baker & I thought the shop was on the road that went past aintree racecourse. My dad's family lived on Longmoor Lane. I am still in contact with the Bakers in Oz, but lost contact with the Bakers that lived in Maghull. I have tried to reply to you, but I am blocked, may because I am a guest member, I will have get my son to assist next week.

Hi Andarah
I'm not researching the name but wonder if you know of Percy Trezise?
He's (was) quite famous in Queensland, particularly north Qld., as an author, a pilot, and explorer, and for discovering lots of aboriginal rock art. Wiki says he was born in Victoria, of Cornish descent.
Died 2005.

16th June, 1805 christening of John Lukey son of John and Ann(Trezise) Lukey, in Sithney.
-
Dawn, I have not heard of Percy Trezise - thanks!
Bessant, I have not heard of Trezise in Sithney, but I'll see if there's a connection. It's not a common name.

Hi Andarah,
Would love to get in touch as your husband is my sixth cousin once removed.
I think i have contacted Palfamily before as I used to correspond with his mother.
Graylight's wife is also a more distant relative as we now believe we have traced the Trezise link back to St Just. We believe Nicholas Trezise father of Elizabeth was born in St Just. Her brother Nicholas was a Burgess in Bristol and my ggggg grandfather.
Would love to hear from any of the others related to this branch also.

I hope this thread is still active. I have a Trezise g-grandmother from Cornwall and would be most appreciative if anyone can shed some light on her parents. Her name was listed as both Josepha and Sophia Trezise. She was born in 1821 and married David Stephens, son of David Stephens. I found her in the 1841 census as Sophia Stevens, married, 20, but David was not listed with her. She is living in someone else's household. They later moved to the U.S. as I have found them in censuses in New Jersey. They may have at some point later moved to Pennsylvania. I have a note her father may have been William but not sure when or why that was noted. Thanks!

Could you give the area where your Trezise ancestor lived? I have some Trezise/Tresize etc mentions in parish records for the parishes I look after as the OPC (St Enoder, Newlyn East and Perranzabuloe), so if from here I may be able to help
-
I believe it was St Agnes or Kenwyn.
-
Never heard of the name before but it sounded Cornish to me.
https://www.google.com/#q=+Trezise
-
It is a fairly common surname in parts of Cornwall.
I can't see any baptisms or marriages involving David and Sophia/Josepha sadly. I checked the OPC database, but nothing. Nothing on the BMD records either for the marriage. Sorry
There are a number of Trezise baptisms in St Agnes parish around the period in question but none in Kenwyn parish.

Dear Lab822,
If you are on Facebook search for Trezise One Name Group.
It is a closed group so you will need to ask to join and wait to be approved.
It is for those of us who have the Trezise name somewhere in our direct family line.
I am sure they will be able to answer your questions.
Great Hunting, Sloop.
-
A number of Trezise males have had DNA tests and so far they are all related to a common ancestor within the timescales of written records.
So if you have a direct blood ancestor with a Trezise surname in your tree it is very likely you are related in some way to everyone else with such a Trezise connection.
:-)
-
ive got 70 Trezise's in my tree... The two camps I have enountered are in either St Agnes or Mullion!
-
I have a Trezise 3rd great grandmother who was from St Agnes.
-
