Post by: ynnad on Thursday 14 January 10 20:22 GMT (UK)
Hello
Does anyone have any information on William Wilde who was born in Broseley Shropshire in 1798, I believe he was married to Elizabeth and had a son Edward. Any information would be appreciated.

If you consult the 1838 Tithe Map of Broseley you will see around a dozen houses with William Wilde listed as the landowner. There also appears to be two Williams listed as tenants.

Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat  :)

I can see Edward aged 9, with his family in 1861,

RG9/1859  f.86  p.15  Broseley, Shropshire
Lloy? Head

WILD
William      Head    63    Brickmaker
Elizabeth    Wife    62
Arnold        Son    38    Brick Burner
Naomi        Daur    24    Housekeeper
Henry         Son    11    Assistant at Brick Work
Edward       Son     9    Scholar
James        Son     1                        All born Shrops Broseley

I think getting Edward's and maybe James's birth cert. would be a good idea, as in 1871 they are grandchildren of William,

Edward WILD    Mar Q 1852    Madeley    6a  582

James WILDE    Dec Q 1859    Madeley    6a  583

1871  RG10/2758  f.12  p.17  Broseley, Shropshire
Lloyd Head

WILDE
William      Head  mar??  72    Brick & Tile Burner
Arnold        Son   Unm   50    Brick & Tile Burner
Thomas      Son   Wid    35    Brick & Tile Burner
Edward    Grandson       18    Brick Yard Laborer
James     Grandson       10    Labors at Brickworks    All born Salop Broseley

Do you need the 1851 and 1841 census for William?

Regards
Daisy

Thanks very much Peter and Daisy for your help, William was my wife's 3 times Great Grandfather, in the past she has done quite a lot of research on her family tree at Shrewsbury Records Office but has lost interest over the last few years, I thought if I asked a question on here and received a few replies it might rekindle the flame and get her interested again, and perhaps get some information on how to research on the internet.
Best regards

If you use familysearch (just google it) and search using batch number C011553 you will find more Wilde's in Broseley than you can shake a stick at. It might take some time unravelling them to make sure you are on the right line.
