There's no shortage of Corbetts in the areas you are looking in going back many centuries. Can you provide specifics of who you are looking for?

Hello Peter,
My ancester is Richard Corbett born circa 1810, he was married to Fanny Edwards in 1834
All Saints Wellington. No parentage is mentioned unfortunately on the marraige records.
I have recently however had a couple of new leads:
Firstly his death on 9th July 1849 states age at death 36yrs giving a dob of 1813.Also informant
was Hannah Corbett which is a new Corbett name to my tree....I'm wondering? Mother, Sister??
Secondly I have been in touch with Corbett 'One Name Study' and they have provided me with a
possible parentage of John Corbett 1786-1847 and Hannah Pearce 1784-1847.
Although I cannot find any baptism the only evidence to support this theory is the 1821 census
of Wellington where a Richard is part of the family with John and Hannah, but this gives dob as
1810. The only census Richard appears on reliably is 1841 Horsley Fields Wolverhampton Staffs,
giving another dob of 1821, Fanny's dob is wildly incorrect also here.
Dilema's explained I was hoping someone going to the RO might pin down Richard's parentage and dob.
I'm relatively new to parish records and am struggling to make sense of it all! Tantalisingly there are
some Corbett line's out there that I might be able to link to if I can overcome this hurdle!!
Kind regards Alyson

Richard Corbett baptised Shifnal to John and Hannah in 1810?

Also Priorslee in 1814 has a Richard baptised to William and Sarah. Are you sure the Richard that died in 1849 is yours?

Hi Bristolloggerheads,
Thankyou so much for your interest, I am confident about the death that I have.... a kind
lady at Shrops RO did a search for me and we ruled all the others out as they were the
wrong age at death, all the possibles were way too old to be my Richard.
I too have the possibles, but can't pin down which one!!
Is it possible age at death could be wrong??
Kind regards
Alyson

Yes.

My gg grandfather told the truth to the census enumerators but narrowed the 9 year gap between himself and his wife as far as even his children were concerned. His gravestone and death certificate are both 6 years out because they relied on the children's statements.
