already found the marriage details.
But cannot find them in the census. 1881 they had just got married so I assume that they missed the census date as they married in the December.
Cannot track them on the next. Or any births
I found some possibles 1882 Births Apr - June Portsea

I have tested the first two on Census and have come up blank. The last one I will try tomorrow.

I have some questions about researching:
On The Genealogist behind the information of a birth or a census it shows the Reg no.
If someone has kindly completed some research for you and they give you the Reg no . RG but you cannot find it, and you are shown something close to it can you use the arrows shown to obtain the record that you want. Because it seemed to me that you should be able to, but when I tried that nothing happened.
Has anyone else had that happen.?

cannot find the other two children though there is a william wallace born around that time in portsea

Augustus is a widower in 1891, so that does tend to confirm that the record wozzle found is Isabella's death.
Eliza Annie and William Wallace Gale belong to different parents - although born in the same quarter and registered in the same district, the numbers are not consecutive so not twins.
Charles Gale's birth is registered in the following quarter and a possibility, but he died in the same quarter.
Given that Isabella's death was registered in Petersfield RD, it's going to be difficult to know if they had any children and if they also died. No way of knowing when they moved away from Portsea to Petersfield area or where to without spending some money on certificates or going to Winchester to look up the parish records. :-\

Apparently she had two children, one is definately named Florence who married a mr. cross.
The other child, I do not know if male or female or their name. Maybe she died in childbirth or soon after.
Will keep the information below that you found for me and take a look in Petersfield for births.

Just read the other thread where you found their marriage - in Midhurst RD in Sussex. What made you think that the Portsea births might be their children? Petersfield makes more sense since it is the neighbouring RD to Midhurst.
A number of possible Gale births in Petersfield - unfortunately with corresponding deaths.

I will try and get oh as its his family to take a look at Winchester records to find the other child, but there was florence and a n other. It is the name of the other one I do not know. So will spend some time browsing the birth records and see if I can find anything for petersfield.

One more to go which is the direct line for my husband Ellen Jane Marsh married Charles William Brown. This has been partially covered already through Robert Jeffrey Tickle and I already have all the names of her children. It is Charles Brown I am more interested in, as I have Roberts parents and Ellen Janes' parents.

She had a sister living in Midhurst whom I believe she stayed with whilst she was getting ready for her marriage to Augustus, this is only an assumption.
Think I have found a death for Augustus aged 73 3rd Qtr 1935 in Hammersmith Vol 1a Page 185
and a birth date of 4th Qtr Oct-Dec 1859 in Petersfield Vol 2c Page 121
There is also a birth for a Florence Betsy C Gale Born petersfield 4th Qtr Oct-Dec 1882 Vol 2C Page 143 do not know if this is the correct one, but being Petersfield is more likely considering that is where Augustus and Louisa seemed to be. ???

If this is Augustus (as married to Louisa) who died in Hammersmith, how do you do a census search of the place to find out who he was with.
I still have to find Florence Marriage to Mr. Cross whose christian name I do not know, which may give me an idea of whether he was living with them or not.
What do you think, is this the right way to go.?

Spent some time transfering the information into the tree for my husband
not much more to do.
I found the information I had on one of his cousins and her family, her first born son has married recently 2001. the other two I still have to research. I only hope that he appreciates the effort I have made and all the help you have all given to this, but I doubt it; things just pass him by at the moment. Recession and all.
Want to spend some time seeing if Augustus remarried and if I can find out about the second child.

I found the death record for Louisa that you details wozzle and also the census which says that Florence was either staying with or living with her grandparents aged 8 kwhich means that she was born in 1883
No sign of Augustus in 1881 or 1891. But I know that someone said that he was around in the 1901 census. So will refer back to past postings to see.

I found his parents in Liss with ref: to your earlier posting and made a note of the info I found for the tree.
William And Caroline with his siblings.
so he never remarried?. He was 11 and it stated he was born in 1860.
I haven't found his other child that barrys uncle said that they had. This is taking more effort than I at first thought it would. Have not found Florence marriage either to Mr Cross. It would help if only I knew his given name.

I spent last night trying to look for them. I found the census with Betsy aged 78 and Florence aged 18 and saw William H Cross Boarder 25/26,so went looking but did not find anything.
A lot of possibles but no real information. Admit I was struggling with this. No sign of the other child that the parents were supposed to have had? I wondered if it was a boy he may have kept him with him. With no name to go on, it is unlikely I will find it. Thanks wozzle, that saves me a headache. started to become frustrated with this one. I owe you one, (at least). At the moment with the recession money is tight, hopefully from next month things will lighten up. I tried family search it said no results. I tried FreeBMD no results. Ancestry it came up with something but said I had to pay, which I thought that having joined for a fee I should at least have had free searches as with the Gen, tried them nothing conclusive. Could not get any information for florence to tie up with anyone called William Cross. William Henry or William Harry Cross. I wonder sometimes, if these sites are more sensitive and the wording like on the internet has to be written in a certain way to get the results you want.

I have found Augustus Gale aged 41 Farrier
wife Emily Pearce also 41
Son Augustus 16 which means he was born in 1885 and is a carman
as Louisa died in 1887 he has to be her son.
That is a turn up. Chiswich Mddx 1901 Census but I cannot read the address
its no 32 ? Grove

Is there a way of confirming the Death of Augustus Gale I found in Hammersmith and seeing who he was living with at the time? One of my previous posts on this section. Then I can call it a day and state completed until I can get enough monies together to find the children of both Florence and William and Augustus and whoever he married.

you could get the death cert to see who regd the death i think that would tell you his place of abode at the time of the death but that would'nt neccesarily give you the answer you are looking for
afraid the short answer to your question is i do not know how you would find out who he was living with at the time of death

I'm a great grandson of Augustus and Louisa Isabella Gale. As far as I and a Gale cousin have been able to piece together the information, my Gale ancestral line goes like this:
William Gale (b. abt. 1820) married a woman named Caroline (her maiden name is unknown to me) (b. abt. 1832). Their children are or included Charles (b. abt. 1858), Augustus (b. 3 November 1859 in Liss, Hampshire, England / d. 5 August 1935 in England), Maria (b. abt. 1863) and Frances (b. abt. 1864). Caroline also had a son named William Carpenter (b. abt. 1856).
Augustus, nicknamed "Alf," married Louisa Isabella (her maiden name is unknown to me; speculation is that it could have been Marsh). Their children are or included Florence Betsy Caroline (b. 17 September 1882), George Augustus (b. 18 June 1884 in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England / d. 28 August 1966 in Galt, Ontario, Canada) and William (b. and d. dates are unknown to me). After Louisa Isabella passed on—her death is assumed to have occurred during the winter of 1887—Augustus married Emily Pearce, daughter of George Pearce, on 8 October 1892.
Florence Betsy Caroline Gale married William Cross. Their children are or included Florence "Florrie," Harry and William.
George Augustus immigrated to Canada (the date is unknown to me) and, on 2 October 1906, married Agnes Eva Young, nicknamed "Aggie" (b. 1 January 1889 in Oneida Township, Ontario, Canada / d. 23 September 1947 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada), daughter of Charles and Ellen Young. Their children are Elmer Lewis (b. 9 February 1908 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada / d. 1 August 1969 in North Bay, Ontario, Canada) and Charles Augustus (b. 1 May 1909 / d. 19 September 1984).
On 23 May 1929, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Charles Augustus married Margaret Isabel Elizabeth Wismer (b. 27 May 1911 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada / d. 13 September 1997 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada). They have six children.
In September 1929, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Elmer Lewis married Violet Buelah Hall (b. 9 June 1910 in Beeton, Ontario, Canada / d. 6 October 2006 in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada). They have eight children, four of whom are still living as of this date, including my mother.

john marsh married betsty warren their first child was john he died before he was 10email me and I will try and get you if you are interested, all her siblings names but you will have to look them up yourself because its a very large tree stuffed with informayion that since mt strokr I find hard to remember
